Gap's finest

I've been plying the internet recently for good deals on quality underwear, and I have just acquired some really cool briefs from The Gap. The goods are called an “athletic brief,” which is along the lines of “sport briefs,” “fitted briefs,” or any of the other catch phrases used these days. Basically it all comes down to a collective description: really well fitting, comfortable, supportive, and stylish. All of these qualities describe what I got perfectly. They are made of really soft 100% cotton and have just the right amount of coverage in the seat. The front has a pouch that is also just the right size. In addition, the waistband has a very comfortable, clingly feel to it. Although sources tell me that Gap briefs have a tendancy to stretch out, I have not found this to be the case even after a long day of wear. The brief held its shape quite well as a matter of fact. Repeated wearings may prove otherwise, but for now this does not seem to be a problem. I suspect that a dryer may be fatal to these briefs, shrinking them irreversibly. I base this assumption on the fact that they are 100% cotton and also the weave of the fabric, which has that shrinkable feel to it. I doubt I will take a chance on them.

On Gap.com the underwear is available in solid colors. In the store I have seen them with contrasting stripes and even some graphic prints. All of them are very stylish with contrasting leg openings. What’s even better, they are on sale for about half the price! In all honesty the only thing I would fault them on is the substance of the fabric. It has a good feel, but if it were just a little thicker, it would be top notch.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the GAP Athletic Briefs a total score of 10 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 10 (out of 10) -
As of right now, they fit wonderfully.
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10)
STYLE -- 10 (out of 10)
QUALITY -- 9 (out of 10) - The fabric should have a bit more substance.
VALUE -- 10 (out of 10) - $6.99 Gap.com; can’t beat that.

********** 10
Note from UMan: I have tried some of the GAP boxerbriefs and I have experienced the stretching out that Andy mentioned he had heard tell of. What I've found is that they stretch out as you wear them (after they've been washed once). And if you just put them in the washer (and not the dryer) they stretch out too, but once you put them in the dryer they get back to a comfortable size again. And then the whole cycle repeats once you wear them again.

(Product) Red underwear

I'm sure many of you are already aware of this, but just in case you are not I will give you some background. HIV/AIDS has been needlessly ravishing through Africa. Although there is no cure to HIV/AIDS there are ways to prevent it from spreading and to alleviate some of the pain it causes. (Product) Red is a campaign that was started to help AIDS victims in Africa. A percentage of all (Product) Red purchases is given to help AIDS. These products have spread range from credit cards to Armani jeans and Motorola razrs and everything else in between. These products also include a line of GAP boxers that help support the (Product) Red cause. The GAP line for product red has many different words that play off of the (Red) part of the campaign. Half of the profits from your $20 boxer will directly benefit AIDS sufferers in Africa. So next time you feel like buying something for yourself, also considering giving a little back. Make your next underwear purchase be a (Product) Red underwear purchase and help prevent AIDS in Africa. There are other ways to help too, but this is one of the easiest ways to help and it will make a big difference.

Artificial Flavor on the Today Show video

I posted earlier about how AFlavor would be featured on the Today Show. Well it happened, but it was a very brief segment (no pun intended). To view the segment click here. The segment was all about gifts to give for Valentine's Day. Scroll to about 3:58 to get to the point where AFlavor is featured. I played around to figure out to do this. A little tip is: drag the marker vaguely to the point where you want to start and then quickly double click. If you don't want to view the video, but just want to view a summary of the segment click here. It's a very nice write-up, the TV spot was a little awkward (totally the hostess' fault).

Here's the blurb on the site that's about men's underwear:
"...but nothing makes a gal melt like a man who steps up his bedroom ballgame. Help him start with his style, and select a pair of Artificial Flavor's beefed-up briefs. These undergarments were designed by a man and are as stylish as we've ever seen ($25-27.50, aflavor.com). Ginch Gonch will get you in the mood with their trendy take on tighty whities ($25.50-27; ginchgonch.com). Or, opt for Gap's (PRODUCT) RED boxers. Half the profits from these solid-colored shorts go to the Global Fund to help fight AIDS ($20, gap.com)."

Gap briefs

Ok so they're not exactly men's underwear but these are really cool. These are boys gap briefs. I saw these and thought that flames were just so cool. They make much cooler briefs for boys then they do for men. If men's briefs were as colorful and patterned as boys briefs then they wouldn't be labeled as so boring. Although they are boys and are a bit small who cares? The tight feel on one's package feels great and looks hot and gives great support. The waist is boys xxs-xxl which is about waist sizes 19"-32.5". That's not too small. It would just be snug and fitting. But no one will be able to tell because the waistband and seams are just the same as the adult versions (just the adult version don't have the cool designs). I just thought that these briefs were really cool looking and really hot (no pun intended). They come in 3 packs from GAP and are usually $12.50 for the three pack, currently they are on sale for $7.99 for the three (both prices are a great value, you can barely even get one men's brief for that price!). I suggest that if you like cool character, cartoon, colorful, or graphic briefs that you try out boys briefs. True they are pretty tight but they look great.

Would or do you wear boys underwear?

Gap boxer-brief trunks

These are an interesting developement. They are really cool looking and have very stylish stripes. They are both the same in terms of style and fit. But the colors and cost are different. In terms of similarity they are both a trunk style boxer-brief that are fairly low rise and come up to around mid-calf. They have no fly which allows for a nice streamlined look. But it does have a pouch front to allow for the well-endowed. Also they both have a GAP logo waistband. One thing that I think is pretty cool is that these are one of the few brands of men's underwear out there that I've found that comes in sizes xs-xxl. That's a huge range. That basically means that it will fit waist sizes 26-45 or something close to that. The first picture shows the brand new style that just came out and costs $12.50 at Gap. It also comes in goldfish orange and grey (pictured is royal blue and grey). The second square-cut boxer-brief is currently sold-out at gap.com. I don't know if they have it in stores or not but I hope they do because I would like to purchase a pair. This is $6.99 at gap (when in stock of course) and is shown in aloe green, but also comes in bluestone.

Do you like fly fronts or pouch fronts better? Why?
