It's official, briefs are back at American Eagle. A couple weeks back it came to my attention that most of the men's underwear at American Eagle was on clearance for 4.95, that got me to thinking that they must have something new up their sleeve as they never have all of it on clearance. My hunch was correct. AE just reintroduced their brief in 7 solid colors, a couple striped patterns, eagle design and camo. Along with the new style, AE has also redesigned the waistband on all their fitted men's underwear (i.e. briefs, boxerbriefs, trunks, etc.). The new band is thicker with a bigger and bolder logo - in keeping with the current waistband trend in men's underwear. This new band first came to my attention when it was seen in a promotional photo on the site a couple weeks ago (peeking above some boardshorts; image shown). The price point has stayed the same on the new undies ($12.50 each or 2 for $20), which is a steal when compared to other fashion-foward underwear. All the new underwear is currently available online and will be available in stores sometime next week.
It's still winter and it is just starting to get really cold for those of us who have winter weather. So if you're like me and live where there is snow, you definitely will need to get out the old long johns at least a couple days this season. American Eagle has their long johns on sale for $9.95 (marked down from $19.50), so that's a great deal. But you need to act quickly because they are selling fast. When I was first planning on writing this post they had blue, red, grey, and camo (and that was just a couple days ago). Now they only have red and camo. The red and the camo are available, as of the time of this post, in xsmall/small and x-large/xxlarge. So go check it out now. And stay warm!
If you are an avid reader of my blog, you may remember that the other day I posted about how all the AE knit basics underwear were on sale and no longer in the regular section. I hypothesized that they either totally discontinued or were in the process of remaking the line (like Abercrombie did). I was correct with the latter hypothesis; they created new knit underwear. They call them knit boxers on the site, but they're really all boxerbriefs. They have a variety of looks: basic and bright colors (with contrast trim!) as well as logo patterned fabrics and striped fabrics. So check out this fun new line. It is definitely a step up from before, I am really liking the look of this new line. I hope to get to try some soon. Before they just had pretty basic colors (grey, black, and white). Now they have fun and funky colors (as well as the basics) as well as a more noticeable logo waistband (the old logoed band was very subtle, this one is a little more in your face). I think that this just goes to show that retailers realize that the general masses (especially the young high school and college students that American Eagle is aimed at) of men want to wear fun underwear. Fun and colorful underwear for men is no longer just a niche market; it's a huge industry! So check them out, they are a great deal at 2 for $20 (or 1 for $12.50)!
