New Cocksox - Reviewed!

If you've been reading MUB for a while, you'll know that I've long been a fan of Cocksox. They continue to innovate and stay on top of trends while continually delivering quality and comfortable products. It appears I haven't actually reviewed a pair since 2006 when they first launched -- a lot has changed in underwear and with Cocksox since then.

In honor of Cocksox's 10th anniversary (which was in 2016), I'd like to talk about their new(ish) Lustrous Elements CX12MT Boxer. I tried it in 'Gold Shimmer' (black with gold band).

I have to admit, when I first pulled these out of the package they looked big. Not like I got the wrong size big, but just like they'd be an awkward fit big. I've tried enough underwear to be able to tell a lot from just looking at them. But don't let that deter you. Once I put them on, they fit surprisingly well. This is due in part to their seamless design - they are seamless from front to back. The only seams connect the signature Cocksox pouch to the body of the underwear. This seamlessness allows these trunks (despite the name, they're really trunks) to conform perfectly to your body's contours. Unlike some of Cocksox's earlier pairs, the pouch supports but is not too in-your-face enhancing.

These undies are comfy. The fabric is a superb combo of supplex and lycra, making for wonderful all-day comfort. As promised by Cocksox, they do hold their shape after many washes. What I was most impressed by was how well the fabric seems to support things and hug your curves, despite being lightweight. It doesn't stretch out. Another comfort factor is the elimination of the scratchy tags (as is pretty commonplace these days). But Cocksox went the extra mile with a subtle detail, instead of stitching the elastic band together at the back of the waist, they opted to put the seam on the side for additional comfort. Great move! I seriously forgot I was wearing underwear at several points throughout the day.

The style is basic - they come in black with a gold waistband or white with a silver waistband. But basic is not a bad thing. The feel of these makes them anything but basic. And the stylish metallic waistband adds a little extra appeal. The band is 32mm, which is a little narrower than many underwear bands, setting them apart. But the overall feel is still very masculine, despite the narrower band.

As mentioned already, the quality is great. These have held up well in multiple washings with no stretching or fading. And I have a feeling they will continue to fair quite well as I put them into my regular rotation. At $34, they are on the pricey side for such a basic pair. But Cocksox is having a special deal where you can create a value pack by adding 3+ of a style to your cart for a savings. See their site for more details.

MY RATING: Overall, I give the Cocksox Lustrous Elements Boxer a total score of 9 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 10 (out of 10) - Seamless design allows these trunks to conform smoothly to your body.
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10) - Seamlessness and other details allow for all day-comfort. Quality, comfortable fabric.
STYLE -- 8 (out of 10) - Basic, sexy, masculine.
QUALITY -- 10 (out of 10) - High quality fabric and construction.
VALUE -- 8 (out of 10) - A little expensive for what they are, but more worthwhile in a multi-pack.

New Trend: Jock Boxers - Reviewed

Want to let your ass hang out this summer? Jockstraps have long been an option, but the sometimes tight straps and skimpy pouch don't always cut it. Enter the jock brief and jock boxer/trunk - you get the same bare feeling in the rear with a little more coverage up front.  Today I'm going to review the Addicted brand jock boxer.

These jock boxers come in a number of different stylish colors.  I tried the black one with a silver waistband - when your ass is hanging out you don't need to have lots of other things going on. They're rather simple in the front, they appear to be just a basic pair of trunks.  But then you turn around and BAM, surprise!  I really like the metallic silver waistband (which is only on the black pair). Although the graphic nature of the logo band is present on all the colors, which I really like.  The other pairs are more colorful and funky, with contrast piping.

As for the fit of these undies, in the front they fit very much like a regular pair of trunks.  Not too tight, but fitted.  The legs are not very long and line up with the bottom of the pouch. The pouch itself is a simple contour pouch; it's not very large but the fabric does stretch so it never feels too tight.  What I will say about the fit is the leg bands are made out of the same cotton fabric as the rest of the underwear, unlike a jockstrap's elastic straps.  This means that the pouch is not held as it would be in a jock, but the extra fabric on the sides is more than adequate to hold things in place.  If you do have larger balls and are sitting down, there is a potential for them to fall out the back a little bit; it depends on what you're wearing over the trunk and how tight it is.  Overall, I personally find these quite comfortable.  I barely even realized I'm wearing them. As with all ass-less underwear this is partly dependent on how comfortable/soft the jeans are that you wear.  The fabric of the actual underwear is also soft as is the waistband.  While not tagless like most underwear these days, the tag is placed on the right hip and goes unnoticed.

These hold up very well with repeated washings.  Definitely made out of quality materials with attention to all the details.  They are available from our friends at Vocla for $34, which is a reasonable price for a conversation piece like these.  Especially if you get them in a more colorful version.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Addicted Jock Boxers a total score of 8 based on the following criteria:

FIT -- 9 (out of 10) - Basic trunk fit with a surprise in the back.  Small pouch and potential for larger balls to fall out.
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10) - Comfortable fabric and waistband.  Forgot I was wearing them.
STYLE -- 8 (out of 10) - Depends on the color you buy.  Looks like a pair of fairly basic trunks until you turn around.  Great graphic waistband.
QUALITY -- 9 (out of 10) - Good materials, held up well.
VALUE -- 8 (out of 10) - Reasonable price for something so unique, but also a little spendy.

Not Your Grandpa's Long Johns

From left: Timoteo, Nasty Pig, 2(x)ist.

With the snow falling down hard outside my window this morning, I thought what better day to pull out the long johns.  Long johns have really come a long way from what they used to be.  They're no longer the fugly, thermal white things that you're grandpa used to wear.  The long johns of today are stylish and you'll want to wear them.  They're form fitting and sleek, but still keep you warm thanks to performance fabrics.  So today I thought why not do a quick round up of some great long johns on the market this season.  Here they are:

  • The Timoteo Sport 2.0 - comes in blue, white, and black.  This form fitting style has contrast stitching and pouch for an added flair.  They're sure to keep you warm as well as show off your assets with a rear seam and pouch stitching.  $36
  • Nasty Pig - comes in red, black, and white.  These are a looser fit that is a throw-back to the older styles, but still style conscious and forward.  They have a snap fly for style (it doesn't open) that sure looks sexy and intriguing.  $39 at Jockstrap Central.
  • 2(x)ist Tartan long john - comes in black, white, and red.  This low-rise long john has a tailored fit down through the ankles, perfect to wear under your skinny jeans.  They have some style with the tartan waistband.  Functioning on pouch fly.  Normally $34, currently on sale for $25.50 from 2(x)ist.

New Style: aussieBum PocketJockit

I know we haven't talked about aussieBum in a while, but they're still strong and kicking and pumping out sexy, innovative undies. Today I just thought I'd share a new style from them, the PocketJockit. This style features a pocket in the pouch "to store anything you can imagine". I also imagine that you could stuff the pouch to enhance your profile if you like. I just thought that this video was fun and cheeky so I wanted to share it. The PocketJockit normally retails for $25 USD, but it's currently on sale for $16 USD. So that's a great deal. No idea how long this sale will last, so act fast!

New Style from AC: Brief Jock

Today I wanted to introduce you to a new style from Andrew Christian, the brief jock.  This sexy little number is part of the Almost Naked line and is oh-so-soft.  With its sexy gold waistband and straps, this hot new style is sure to turn heads.

The pouch of this jock is anatomically correct and has extra room in front, just where you need it the most. When you slip into these, your package falls naturally into the super soft snuggle pocket to create a truly enjoyable and unique wearing experience. Made from super soft rayon (made from bamboo) and spandex, it will retain it's shape while making you feel good. And the fit is great for all body types.

This sexy number comes in black, blue, and white and retails for $19 at Andrew Christian.

Athlete Jock - A New Classic

Over the past couple of years a new style has been born that is a hybrid of jockstrap and brief, I've been calling it the jockstrap brief.  It is basically a jockstrap but with the straps made of the same, continuous brief fabric.  Baskit started this trend with their ribbed jockbrief.  Timoteo took it last year and remade it with their sport collection.  And now Timoteo is doing it again and reworking their own style and, as they phrase it, updating a classic.  This new Athlete Jock, as they're calling it, is available in a number of brief colors such as turquoise and fuchsia as well as yellow and camouflage.

I still haven't had the chance to try this style.  But the new title for the style, athlete jock, leads me to believe that they are really pushing for these to become sports underwear.  Not having tried it, I can't say how well this would work.  But I'd be willing to give it a go. What's your take on this?  Have you worn this for sports? What's your experience?

Grundies Muscle Trunk - Just $9.95

Grundies is now offering an exceptional deal on their muscle trunk.  They are now retailing for just $9.95 as an everyday low price.  This low price includes free shipping to anywhere in the world!  The muscle trunk is what I would describe as a more full coverage trunk or boxerbrief fit.  These undies have a soft silky feel and they hug your butt in a very comfy way.  These are a great bet for all sorts of activities and at this price they're definitely worth having a couple pairs.  They come in black and white with either contrast stitching (yellow, red, or white) on the black or just plain black or white for a total of five different color combinations.  While they are a fairly basic pair of trunks, the contrast stitching is in a unique pattern lending them a modern, stylish feel.  And if you buy more than three you will save 20% off your entire purchase, so it's really a great deal.  And like I said, there are five different options so it's not like you'll have three of the exact same thing.  This is definitely worth checking out.

New Style from boyRio: Jockstrap Brief

Today I was browsing around and I happened across a brand new style of underwear from boyRio.  It's called the jockstrap brief, and it's pretty much just that.  Basically, instead of having the standard jockstrap pouch in front, the jockstrap brief looks like a brief from the front but a jockstrap in the back.  It comes in blue, black, and white and retails for $27.  I haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I think it's definitely worth checking out.  What are your thoughts on this new style?

New Stonemen Styles Reviewed!

So a while back I reviewed the original collection of Stonemen underwear.  While I wasn't totally explicit about it (or aware of it at the time), my main complaints with the older styles are that the fabric is a little too thick and the print makes the fabric not as soft as it could be.  Also, as I did explain, the fit isn't quite perfect and they need to be shrunk a little bit in the wash before they stay up.

Well today I'm back to review the latest styles from Stonemen - the Hibiscus Square Cut.  As before, they are a little too big for me when I first got them on.  It's not just an issue of the body of the fabric, but also the waistband is a little too big and doesn't snap against my skin.  This could be partially an issue with me as the smalls are meant for those with a 29 inch waist - 31 inch waist, but I am actually a 28 inch waist.  But that shouldn't make that much of a difference.  But after a good wash and a hot dry they shrink perfectly to my size.  But they do not shrink after subsequent washes, so I've concluded that they may not be adequately preshrunk or something.  Anyway, these things fit great (after slight shrinking).  As I found before, they hug everything well but they don't feel too tight.  The cut is a nice hybrid between trunk and brief being somewhere in between in terms of coverage.  This makes them sexy, but also good for the modest guy.  The legbands are thick as far as legbands go, but this holds everything in place throughout the day without need for adjustments.

The fabric on these undies is treated differently than previous stuff from Stonemen.  It feels a lot softer.  And the big key is that the fabric is quite a bit thinner.  The original ones were  210gsm, the new ones are only 190gsm.  So quite a bit lighter. And that makes a big difference making for easier movement and a freer feeling.  These things feel great.

Of course what is really great about these undies is the style!  These things sure have style.  In fact, the style of these is so great that even though these just came out they're only available at the moment in L and XL (the other sizes should be back in stock soon).  These things are just so fun and playful.  The print is fabulous and wraps around the brief continuously without any interruptions from seams (except for at the pouch) and such.  And let's be serious, who doesn't want to imagine they're at the beach during the winter.  So these can at least provide a bit of escape from the cold for you and your partner.  Taking off your pants with these can be like a trip to the beach.  The new collection also comes in a "Red Sunset" print.

So all in all.  I think these are a great new collection from Stonemen.  They were already good to begin with.  But they have gotten even better with much lighter, softer fabric, fun wrap-around prints, and as always a big dose of style.  These undies are well-made with great attention to detail and will definitely last you for a good time.  At $35 AUD, they're much less than a vacation to the beach. But you can get 10% off with coupon code MUBTEN.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Stonemen New Hibiscus Square Cut a total score of 9.5 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 9 (out of 10) - Not quite perfect out of the bag.  Requires shrinking.
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10) - Very comfortable.  Super soft.
STYLE -- 10 (out of 10) - Tons of style.  Feels like a trip to the beach!
QUALITY -- 9 (out of 10) - Well made, will last well.
VALUE -- 9 (out of 10) - Pricey, but well made.

New from American Eagle

It's official, briefs are back at American Eagle. A couple weeks back it came to my attention that most of the men's underwear at American Eagle was on clearance for 4.95, that got me to thinking that they must have something new up their sleeve as they never have all of it on clearance. My hunch was correct. AE just reintroduced their brief in 7 solid colors, a couple striped patterns, eagle design and camo. Along with the new style, AE has also redesigned the waistband on all their fitted men's underwear (i.e. briefs, boxerbriefs, trunks, etc.). The new band is thicker with a bigger and bolder logo - in keeping with the current waistband trend in men's underwear. This new band first came to my attention when it was seen in a promotional photo on the site a couple weeks ago (peeking above some boardshorts; image shown). The price point has stayed the same on the new undies ($12.50 each or 2 for $20), which is a steal when compared to other fashion-foward underwear. All the new underwear is currently available online and will be available in stores sometime next week.

It's Cocktail Hour at Cocksox

This month celebrates Cocksox's one year anniversary. In March 2006, Cocksox started by selling their wear on eBay. But after eBay decided that Cocksox was just too much for eBay to handle they opened their own store. So on July 10, 2006 the guys at Cocksox launched their own website. And the rest is history. In honor of that day the guys at Cocksox are having a special cocktail hour where you can get 10% off all purchases at their online store. To get this deal just enter "cocktail" at checkout. Discount is only good through the 15th.

Also, Cocksox just launched a brand new swimsuit style. These are special swim briefs in fluorescent colors with mesh side panels. They bring something new to the word sexy. They come in two colors, slippery pickle pink and hot lime shooter (shown). And as always, these swim briefs include the Cocksox trademark enhancing system. So check those out as well. And note that the cocktail good IS good on these new suits as well.

New type of Jockstrap

USA Jockwear just released a new type of jockstrap. It's like your standard jockstrap only with adjustable straps. This adjustable strap allows you to choose how much lift you get and it also features a unique, two-layer pouch that creates an uplifting compartment for your boys. Just pull one on, push your stuff down inside the interior pouch opening and adjust the tension on the legstraps for a unique, customized fit. This customized fit is really its selling point. This is a great idea because it will fit all people. The straps can be adjusted to fit a man with a smaller butt or one with a "bubble butt". And it promises to provide the perfect fit and "framing" for everyone. This new style is available in both grey and white from International Jock.
