Guest Post: Collecting

Today I am pleased to welcome guest poster James from James In Brief. James is a big underwear collector and his site is a combination of personal musings and showing off his collection. Every post includes a photo of him in his pair of the day (that's him below) along with a little tid bit about what's currently going on in his life. He then goes on to share lots of eye candy with his readers. So without further ado, here's James' guest post about collecting. And be sure to look out for more from James in the future.

Many people collect many different things. Jay Leno, for instance, collects cars and since he can afford it, good for him. I knew a gal who collected pigs… Porcelain pigs, pig towels, pig everything. Me, I collect underwear.

It all started years back, when I bravely decided to venture out of the tightie-whitie norm, and purchase that style in different colors. For whatever reason, which could be a whole different article, I became obsessed with underwear. Different colors led to different styles and the next logical step was bikinis, which seemed to get smaller and tighter as my collection grew.

It probably goes without saying that thongs, g-strings and jockstraps were not far behind. The beauty of collecting underwear is that the collection is endless… There will always be new styles, new cuts, new designs and new fabrics.

I did not mention boxers because they are my least favorite, but naturally they are included in my collection of hundreds or different pairs of underwear. Singlets? A few, of course.

I figure there are far worse or far more expensive things to collect, and I get to enjoy my collection literally every day! I could go on, but right now I need to run to the mailbox… I am expecting seven new thongs any day now!

Celebrity Underwear: William Moseley

Teen actor William Moseley who plays King Peter in The Chronicles of Narnia movie series is seen here sporting his Tommy Hilfiger boxers. Who knew Moseley had such a great body, too bad we don't see more of it in the movies. I must give credit where credit is due: I found this photo on Adrian's blog.

The photos below also show Moseley shirtless with his boxers hanging out a bit in a photo shoot for Paper Magazine in 2006.

Coming Soon: Sweat

Sweat is an upcoming line of underwear. From the looks of the imagery, the line is going to be very masculine and edgy. This image says the pants drop this spring, their blog says June to be exact. So be on the look-out for Sweat, MUB will keep you posted.

UB reviewed by Chatty Chicka

Hello. UB recently got reviewed by Chatty Chicka over at "So Many Blogs, So Little Time!". The girls over there specialize in doing reviews of blogs. Anyway, CC initially gave UB a very raving review (an 8). But then she retracted her review saying she "must have been on crack the day [she] reviewed it". She then went through again and gave it another review and proclaimed this blog as "CRAP" and something that only a gay man "would give a rat's f*** about...".

Why do I tell you this? Well I think it is very rude to retract a review and I believe that Chatty Chicka totally missed the point of this blog.

I encourage and ask you to please head on over and read her review and then post a comment in the comments section setting her straight on a thing or two. Please guys, I'd really like her to get this right. Let's make this their most commented review ever, and maybe she'll just have to retract her retraction.

New styles, including swimwear, from WildmanT

This week WildmanT has some exciting new offerings. They have now launched their line of swimwear. As Tim promised in his blog post a while back, the swimwear has come. But make note, this is just the beginning and they will have a full-fledged line of swimwear for summer 2008. The initial launch of WildmanT swimwear comes in three different styles with a variety of color combinations. There's the four panel midcut, the bikini horizon, and the four panel bikini. Also as promised, there are new styles of Ball Lifters. This new style is the Ball Lifter Sport. It is just the basic Ball Lifter but in black and white for a more athletic look. As Tim realized in another blog post:
"...not everyone wishes to show off his Ball Lifter to every passer-by that is interested, hence the all white Ball Lifter. The black, just looks hot:)"

I LOVE underwear but sadly I am a poor college student who can’t take anymore of my parents money to buy underwear. I have a number of pairs that I love but have yet to be able to afford any Ginch Gonch since they are usually more expensive then other brands. If I won these I would be the happiest boy in my whole school (The Evergreen State College Olympia, WA), and it would make the end of my school that much better. Two New lines from aussieBum

aussieBum has been previewing some of their upcoming lines on their AusLife section. AusLife is basically aussieBum's announcement blog. So be sure to check that out occasionally. Two of these lines that I want to quickly tell you about are the Jungle line and the Manga line. More information after image.

The Jungle line was just announced today. It is basically animal printed undies. The 'Jungle Series' will be a strictly limited release. aussieBum promises that the quality and feel is absolutely amazing. They are created using the world's most luxurious fabric and hand printed in Italy by master printers. There will be four different Jungle inspired designs to help bring out the animal in you. The Manga line was announced April 6 and has been generating quite a bit of buzz already. As you may know, Manga is a style of Japanese art that is presented in graphic novel form. This line takes inspiration from the stylized Manga art and brings the same bold colors and shapes to prints on underwear. It was promised to be availble in a week (and that was on the 6th), but after talking with the people at aussieBum it looks like it will probably take at least two more weeks.

But whenever these come out, these are some fun new lines to be looking forward to in the coming months.

Kiniki

Kiniki is a great shop that offers lots of Kiniki brand underwear in addition to quite a few other brands. They have been around for a while, but their greatness just recently came to my attention when I was contacted and told to browse around their site and look for some thing that I'd like to review. So I did, and I was amazed at the vast selection that they have to offer just within their own brand. No matter what kind of guy you are, they'll have something fun that you'll love to wear. Whether you're a boxer guy or a posing strap guy. They have everything in between. They have a huge selection of boxers, trunks, briefs, thongs, g-strings, tangas, pouches, and swimwear. And everything is in all different rises and designs. I am sure you will be just as impressed with their selection as I was. New Underwear Blogs

In browsing the web I've run across a few more underwear blogs to tell you about. But with all these underwear blogs popping up all over the web today, it is important to remember that this blog was THE FIRST!

Underwear Fanatic: This is a fairly new blog that started in January. It is run by two guys who are into underwear and swimwear. It's pretty much like this blog and UD.

Hot Underwear For Guys: This is also a fairly new blog (I believe it started in December). The about page just states "We explore and examine the latest and hottest underwear for guys." I'm not totally sure what this blog's niche is, but it's worth a look (it hasn't been updated very recently though).

Topdrawers Underwear: This is probably my favorite of the three, it is very unique (although a little similar to the Mensuas blog). They talk about all the new stuff going on at their online retail site, Topdrawers.

I've added all these blogs to the sidebar so you can easily access them at a later date.

WildmanT does it again!

Yet again, WildmanT has released another great looking product. This new product is the two-toned bikini (shown in pale pink). As Tim (the founder of WildmanT) states in his blog entry, it is his favorite style yet out of the collection. I'm not quite sure which one is my favorite, frankly I like the way they all look. I really won't be able to decide which is my fav until I get to try them out (which will hopefully be very soon). But I've got to say, for such a new company, Tim is really doing a great job in getting the word out and getting lots of great products out quickly. In fact, Tim also stated on his blog that he is planning to get the second half of the first line out next month! I can't wait.

WildmanT collection is rapidly expanding....

I blogged about WildmanT a while ago and how we should be expecting more from WildmanT soon. It's been a little longer than Tim of WildmanT hoped because he went through quite a few technical problems with his site and with his line. But he has persevered and brought a great looking collection to you. The collection comes in four styles and three colors (so far). There's the low-rise bikini, the low-rise leg-band bikini (shown in dust blue), the micro-jock, and the jock strap. And they all are available in Teal, Pale Pink, and Dust Blue. This is a very fun and exciting new line and Tim promises even more soon! Tim also blogs about his thoughts on the new line and he also reveals all the shots from the photo shoot here (he is not only the mastermind behind the line but also the model). So head on over to WildmanT to check this fun line out. I'm going to be getting some samples soon so I should have a review of some of the WildmanT products up soon for you to peruse at your leisure.

How do you define “sexy”?

Sexy is not about what you wear or what you put on your body, it’s who you are and how you feel.

Not everyone looks like a model. What are your suggestions for everyone else who wants to look good in their underwear?

It’s not about what you look like at all. Fashion and sex appeal mean wearing what makes you feel good. You don’t have to look like a model to look good in the clothes that you wear.

Tulio really has some good things to say, especially the part about how you do not have to be a model to be sexy. This is very true and I think everyone can apply this to their lives.

Valentine's Buying Tips

Valentine's Day is coming up soon. Underwear is often a popular gift to give for this occasion. But it can also be a bad gift, so here are some universal tips for buying underwear for your man this Valentine's Day that will be sure to help you find him the perfect pair:

-Know your man: don't buy him skimpy, sexy undies if he's not into that type of thing. If you really aren't sure then sneak a peek at his underwear drawer and see what types of things he has there. If he has all boxers he most likely isn't going to appreciate a sheer thong. If he has all plain , white briefs, then he may be OK if you get him a colorful brief.
-Know your man's size: Sure you've seen it and him before, but that's not how to judge underwear size. You can do one of two things: ask him, or look at his drawer. But be careful, when looking through his drawer he may have things that are old and don't fit him right, so make sure to look at the size on his most recent pairs (note, not all underwear comes in pant sizes, most are in S,M, L so you probably will have to peek for this one).
- Why are you buying him underwear? Is it just because he needs some new ones, or are you trying to say something more. Make sure that you give the right message. If you just want to replenish his essentials, then don't give him something sexy (unless that is what he normally wears). For example, the underwear shown may be quite a kitschy, but it may not convey what you actually mean.
-How are you related? If he is just your best friend you may not want to give him the same thing you would if you were dating or if you were married (in fact if you're just a friend you may want to consider a different type of gift). Valentine's Day gifts can actually change what kind of a relationship you have with a person, so be careful.
- It is Valentine's Day: Valentine's day is a sexy holiday, so even if you don't want to say something sexy with what you buy him, keep in mind, this is Valentine's Day. So at least get him a fun color or something like that.
-My List: I will be doing a "Count to Valentines" starting February first. Everyday I will give one of my picks for a Valentine underwear gift (not in any specific ranked order, just as I think of them). So be on the look-out for that.

Now I've gotta say, I've had my eyes on the 2(x)ist socks for awhile. They are really fun, colorful, unique, and very stylish. You aren't likely to run into too many men wearing them. Yes I know they aren't exactly underwear, but they kind of are (please people, work with me here!).
