Thonging, Obviously - A Review

The Obviously Geometric Thong is quickly becoming my favorite thong! While some guys may be hesitant to try thongs because of the idea of having a piece of string running up the crack, this thong is one I'd recommend for anyone, from novice thong wearer to the experienced thong connoisseur. I am proud to review this thong for you today.

This thong has a very "cool" design. It is bedecked with the a geometric pattern on the pouch. This particular design is made up of an array of colors, including gray, black, white, and a cool baby blue. Across the black waistband closer to the left hip, the brand's namesake "Obviously" is prominently but tastefully displayed in the same baby blue. The designer does a very good job of pulling the color scheme together in a cohesive and artistic manner throughout. The string of the thong is wider than some I've worn, so there's not as much discomfort as with some strings.

Obviously has created one of the most comfortable thongs I have encountered. The waistband is hardly noticeable, even after a long day; whereas many thongs have waistbands that are too tight and that leave an impression in the skin after just a few hours, this waistband is snug without being too tight. What is probably the thing that distinguishes this thong from any other I've worn is the pouch; while most thongs have a "barely there" pouch with hardly any fabric, this thong has a considerably roomier pouch, which Obviously calls an "anatomical pouch.". Usually, in my experience, when you get hard in a thong, there's no way to stay inside the pouch. But this pouch seems to expand as I do. The thong is made of a Modal/Lycra blended fabric, and I must say that it is super soft and has a nice "airy" feel. The fabric also wicks away sweat from the groin to keep things nice and dry.

As far as price goes, this thong is a little on the pricey side. At roughly $25 a pair, this thong may not be for the novice who is unsure as to whether he wants to try thongs or not. However, as a more seasoned thong wearer, I can honestly say that I can see paying this much for a thong this comfortable and stylish.

Overall, I give the Obviously Geometric Thong a 9 out of 10 based on the following categories
:
Style = 10 (out of 10): very stylistic design with cool patterns and a good choice of colors
Fit = 10 (out of 10): anatomical pouch sets this thong above most others
Comfort = 10 (out of 10): very comfortable Modal/Lycra fabric blend
Value = 7 (out of 10): a bit on the pricey end, so not for the hesitant, but definitely worth the price for what you get

Croota Review - Sprinkles! (Part 1 of 2)

I've told UMan about that I don't wear boxer briefs often - I prefer to have underwear that is fun, revealing, tight fitting and even daring. You don't often find these qualities in a boxer brief but, I was pleasantly surprised with what came across my underwear drawer recently. I was given the chance to review two new Croota products, both of which are boxer briefs. One is a trunk style and the other is a more traditional length.

So, here's the first review. For the second review, keep your eye out for the All The Pattern review (coming soon).

First up is Sprinkles!

I'm actually really in love with the Sprinkles pair because they automatically popped out. The concept is something I've never thought about, kind of like a combo of a polka dot with a retro twist. I can't get over the name too, it just sounds fun! I had no idea what two pairs I was getting so it was a surprise that these were included. I immediately decided these were first to put on. I got the grey pair (I am modeling above) which has a simple white band, contour pouch and a short leg. The stitching on the legs gives the trunks a classic feel and paired with the colorful sprinkles pattern is really fun and nostalgic. So these definitely fit in the category of fun and flashy.

The sizing for the sprinkles pair I got is 27-29, small which worked nicely for me (I'm about a 27). I do appreciate having a sizing that goes below 28 because it is so difficult to find something that is tight fitting enough to not get too big through the day. Not many brands do go to a 27 or even a 26 and it definitely makes a difference. They fit me nicely in the waist, the junk and butt area.  The legs fit a little big in back right beneath the butt though. I suspect this is simply for comfort while walking or for shape while sitting as well as me being a 27, the smaller end of the sizing. The pouch is seamed on the sides and once down the middle to slightly contour, though the trunks hold everything comfortably snug.

Croota uses a simple fabric blend of cotton with an elastane for stretch, so there isn't anything really special for these in that department but this works as an advantage. These are definitely not meant to be anything kinky or daring so a simple fabric choice is good for comfort and to get guys to try out something different in their comfort zone.
I've worn these to work, school, and to lounge at home and found it was comfortable, moveable and functional. They do, as I mentioned, have a little more room (as you can see in the picture above) in the legs so watch for bunching under slimmer pants. This is certainly where my love for jocks and thongs comes from, I simply don't like fabric that feels like it doesn't need to be there.

I really wish they would make some more colors of this style. I love nice neutral tones with pops of color, it's fun and different but also realistic for the average guy too. I could also really see these in an inverted color scheme like bright pink with chocolate sprinkles or white, grey and black. There's definitely a lot of potential for this boxer brief.

MY RATING: 8.25 (out of 10)
Recommended for: Comfort and showing off (whatever that may be ;) )

COMFORT: 9
CONSTRUCTION: 8
DURABILITY: 7.5
DESIGN: 8.5
APPEAL: 8.5
VALUE: 8

Stay tuned for the next part where I will review the All That Pattern boxer brief.

CIN-2 Grip Jock Review

CIN-2 is hands down one of my favorite brands so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I decided to review their Core Grip Jockstrap

This jock doesn’t look very similar to other styles, it has a different strap design and the pouch is contoured with side seams as opposed to a central seam found on many other styles of underwear. I find this front seam can be unflattering or distracting but these side seams flatter while also providing the same if not superior pouch contour and support as other brands.

This jock was definitely designed with the active guy in mind, it wicks away moisture and provides great support. The straps connect to the front pouch and I find this helps in keeping everything in the right place for the day. The downside to the fabric is that you can’t use a fabric softener while washing so you do require some extra care for this Jock.

While it is obvious this was made for the active guy, I’ve worn these for many different reasons. They’re great for warm summer days, running, and I’ve even worn these underneath a full suit on an active day. So consider this no matter your lifestyle.

An added bonus about this jock is that the Grip line is an ongoing collection by CIN-2, it is redone every once in a while in more colors keeping you up to date with new looks but the same quality. If you enjoy working out in style, you are going to have luck with this being available in many colors including a new season of colors that was just recently released.

If you aren’t much of a jock kind of guy the Grip line is also available in other styles offering more coverage. This jock leaves very little to the imagination but the waist moves easily and adjusts nicely.

MY RATING: 9.25 (out of 10)
Recommended for: Comfortable (and stylish) working out.

COMFORT: 10
CONSTRUCTION: 9.5
DURABILITY: 9
DESIGN: 9
APPEAL: 9.5
VALUE: 8.5 They are a little expensive, but worth it in my opinion.

Weight Loss and My Undies

So... It’s been a long time since I’ve written for MUB, but here I am again. I am a married, straight guy who also happens to appreciate good men’s undergarments. Does that make me weird? I don’t know. Most people would probably say so, but who cares? They’re my undies, and no one but my wife gets a vote on them.

Anyhow, in the last few months I have started working toward losing weight and achieving a healthy body shape/state. My overall goal is to lose 50lbs, to get me to 185ish. So far, I’ve lost 19lbs, and I’m trucking right along. No fancy system or diet - just eating less, eating better things, and getting off my butt regularly to do stuff. Mostly running, which I’m still trying not to hate.

What does this have to do with underwear, you ask? Well, one of the big factors in wanting to lose weight is my own vanity. I want to look good in my clothes (and out of them). Being almost halfway to my goal, something I have noticed is that my undies fit better and look better. Nothing miraculous, like growing an inch, like some claim will happen. But there’s less fat, which means that I hang more nicely, which means that I fill out a pouch more nicely. Also, there’s less flab on my ass, which means that my undies look nicer and don’t ride up so badly. And my muffin-top (every undie-man’s horror) is shrinking bit by bit.

Yesterday, I wore a pair of trunks that I hadn’t worn in awhile because they were too tight. Well, guess what? They are still stretched a bit, but they now fit decently!

By the time I’m down to my goal weight, I’ll be down into a smaller size, so I’ll need new undies. UMan says that if you readers like my stuff, he might help me get some new drawers. ;) I haven’t picked out any “goal” pairs to strive for, yet. So for you readers - post in the comments your suggestions for specific pairs you think I should aim for.

Guest Review: M-N Briefs

Today I'd like to introduce you to an enthusiastic new guest contributor Tantalus.  If all goes well and you like what he has to say, I'm hoping to make him a permanent part of the MUB team!  Please let us know your thoughts.  ~UMan

Uman previously reviewed M-N’s line of trunks.  As you might remember from the review, the trunks are cut high enough that they almost look like a longer brief.

Tantalus in M-N briefs.
Their briefs, however, are a good deal shorter.  As far as the fit goes, the angle in the back is much more severe than the trunks leading to an accentuated butt.  The inner thigh cut is still rather conservative.  Men with ample junk: This design is practically made for you.  The design has a pouch in the front and enough fabric around it on the inner thighs so that you won’t hang out the sides.

Comfort-wise, these briefs have a feel very similar to their trunk counterparts.  The fabric is the same: a cotton-elastane blend that stretches nicely without digging into your skin.  They stay reasonably close to your skin even after a full day’s wear, a welcome change from some cheaper band fabric. In short, the basics on this underwear all function well.

The style of this range hasn’t changed too much. The specific style I’ve been wearing, Street Squares (Pictured), has a vertical stripe-seam on the pouch.  All of the briefs also have a seam directly down the center of the brief’s backside (a key difference from the trunks) that does a great job breaking up the print in an edgy way.  It makes whoever is checking out your backside think, “Wait, what? I gotta look again!”  Finally, there’s some interesting double-stitching going on in the thigh elastic; the creators of this line clearly paid attention to every detail.

The briefs are extremely well made and tend to last, much like the trunks. Everything fits tightly, and each stitch and seam fits extremely well with the overall design and enhances the cut.  The elastic is durable and lasts. Men with junk in the trunk, though, beware – you might have to make some adjustments throughout the day.

TANTALUS' RATING:
Overall, I give the M-N Azure Range Brief a total score of 9 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 8 (out of 10) - Brief, severely cut in the back.
COMFORT -- 9 (out of 10) - Soft and smooth fabric.  Ample pouch keeps everything in place.
STYLE -- 10 (out of 10) - Distinct and edgy look.
QUALITY -- 10 (out of 10) - Well made. Great attention to detail.
VALUE -- 8 (out of 10) - Slightly expensive, but worth the investment.

Guest Post: How My Obsession Started

Today I'm pleased to introduce to you a new guest poster Matty.  You may be familiar with his Twitter @techiematty.  Matty is a 20 year old, gay college boy who's super into his undies!  He's always posting photos of him in his undies on his Twitpic, so many in fact that his account got suspended yesterday :(  Anyway, today he is guest posting about his obsession and how it got started.  If you like what you see/read he may become a permanent member of the site, so please let us know what you think!

Hey fellow underwear lovers!!! My name is Matty and I would love to tell you about my obsession with undies! It all started in the locker room in high school. Back then I wore tighty whities and I would be the first one in there to change. But funny thing was, I was always the last one to leave that locker room. I loved looking around at all the undies that the other boys had on. I wanted a choice of colors in the mornings, not just my white undies. Once I finally started working and having money, my underwear obsession began!

I first started getting American Eagle trunks since the other boys would wear those. I got so many fun colors and I loved the simple fit of them. Then my freshman year of college and I finally lived away from home. I could buy all the undies I wanted online! I started getting Ausssiebum, Andrew Christian, C-in2, 2(x)ist and so many others. I am now in my sophomore year in college. I am only 20 and I already have a giant drawer filled with underwear!

Trunks, briefs and jocks are all I have so far. As the year goes on I plan on trying all different kinds of undies. I love to show off my undies every day on twitter. I just take a picture of them right after I get out of the shower! So be sure to follow my twitter (@techiematty). I'm just a little twink who loves his undies.

I want to know, what started your obsession with undies? Because we all know it had to start somewhere!!

Edward Scissorhands Wears Sheer Undies - A Piece of Underwear Prose

Intymen Mesh Brief.
Today I bring you a little piece of underwear inspired fiction from a guest poster. It's written by Tony from Underwear-Addict. You may remember the site name from back when it used to be an e-commerce site. Tony has since taken it over and it is now informative only. I thought this piece was especially appropriate to publish now with Halloween only a week away. It's a fictitious piece about Edward Scissorhands and the sheer underwear that he uses to cover his piece. For more great articles like this one, be sure to check out Tony's great site. Enjoy!

To off set the weight of his top-heavy shears, Edward Scissorhands keeps his bottom light in a pair of mens sheer underwear.

Edward Scissorhands knows the importance of dressing sharp while playing it safe below the belt with his soft fleshy side tucked safely inside a pair of mens sheer underwear.

Delicate yet durable, his pliable synthetic parts require comfort and support contrary to his heavy metal hands. Unwieldy and clumsy, his hands have trouble in grasping the practical and mundane. With difficulty, Edward negotiates his way through a day saddled by the weight of his daggered destiny, lightening his load in a pair of sheer underwear.

Stretchable, supple, yet sturdy, and tough, Edward’ s men sheer underwear attains the same perfection as one of his pruned topiary perennial shrubs. That’ s why Edward never leaves home without his softer side set comfortably snug in a pair of sheer undies.

The ladies simply adore Edward’ s haircutting expertise, as well as his sense of style, and have taken a shine to his silver glossy hands. If only they got a gander at his gentle genitalia below his heavy-handed shears, they’ d also take a shine to the slick perfected form inside his sheer underwear especially when sheathed in a pair of sexy see-through briefs.

In one respect, Edward would like his underwear to be similar to his scissor hands – his underwear must always look sharp and be on the cutting edge of fashion. As his hedge creations take on many shapes and forms, so does Edward’ s mens sheer underwear, which comes in boxers, briefs, and mesh swing thongs, as well as more enticing styles to adore.

Soft, breathable, and freeing, sheer underwear offers Edward the flexibility to reach the top of a hedge to deftly create the flap of an elephant ear or bend low to recreate a large flat foot and five stubby toes.

Lightweight, nylon, micromesh, mens sheer underwear is machine washable unlike Edward’ s scissor hands, which require a delicate hand wash. Such is the irony that exists in the parallel world between one man’ s flesh and scissor hands.

Guest Review: Cue Underwear

The following is a guest review from Ryan. He also reviewed the Tactics thong and Magic silk thong for MUB a while back. Let us know what you think of his guest review. And yes, the photos are of Ryan.
It isn't often that I get free undies simply for asking, so I was pretty excited to get some recently from a relatively new company based in Malaysia called Cue Underwear. They make a "hip brief" style, and a "trunk" style, both in a 90/10 cotton/elastane blend fabric, and were gracious enough to send me a sample of each.

First, the brief. The first thing you notice when you take either style out of the box is the V-shaped waistband. The waistband is a generic bare elastic waistband, printed with www.cueUwear.com around and around. However, the interesting thing is that it comes together in a V pointing toward your assets. Maybe it would look better on someone more in shape, with that enviable V that leads your eye into the depths, but it didn't do anything for me. So I proceeded to put them on, and the fabric is thin, but very comfortable. The rear on this brief is maybe what one would call a 3/4 back -- definitely not full coverage, but not too exposing. The only really strange thing is how the pouch is designed. They allow quite a bit of room in the front, calling it the "Cockpit". However, that room is all at the bottom of the pouch. Not being overly well-endowed myself, I ended up with a "wattle" of fabric under my assets, which was not uncomfortable, but not flattering either. All-in-all, a decent design, but not the best execution. Grade - solid B+ Would I buy more? I might consider it.

Overall Grade: B+ based on the following
Design: B-
Fit: A-
Fabric: A+
Construction: A

Next, the trunk. Like the brief, the trunk has a bare waistband in the same V shape. However, the big difference is the pouch. Whereas the brief's pouch was over-generous, this trunk's pouch fit me like a glove. It was very comfortable, and rather flattering, if I may say so. The trunk looks very small coming out of the box, but the fabric is amazingly stretchy, and fits nicely. While not specifically designed for it, this cut also made my butt look good, too. Aside from the slightly goofy waistband, this is definitely an A-grade trunk. Would I buy more? - definitely.

Overall Grade: A, based on the following:
Design: A- (just 'cuz of the odd waistband)
Fit: A+
Fabric: A+
Construction: A

So there you have it. Stay tuned for my thoughts on Cue Underwear.

Guest Post: Confessions of a 32 Year Old Brief Addict

Today I'd like to welcome guest poster Brflines. He's got a massive collection of briefs - in fact it rivals my own collection. He has a whole album on Flickr devoted to showing off his undies. The photos in this entry are of Brflines' collection and him in them. Here's what he has to say about it:

I admit it, I’m a brief addict! With close to six hundred pairs of briefs overflowing from dresser drawers and storage boxes, it’s gotten to be a bit of an obsession for me. But, despite my credit card balance, I think it’s a fun and sexy addiction and one that has led to new friends and experiences.

ORIGINS
There's something about briefs that I love. It’s about the shape and the way that they fit. For me, they’re very masculine and very personal at the same time.

I don’t remember exactly when I got into buying briefs. I’ve always worn briefs (except for a short time in college in the late nineties when I experimented with boxers) and can remember my fascination with different colors and patterns whilst amongst my peers in middle school and college. It was the mid-nineties and briefs and bikinis were still going strong, and I remember the plethora of different colors and cuts, styles and designs. Seeing my friends and classmates in their briefs and bikinis made P.E. worth going to.

I don’t have the underwear I wore back then in my possession now. But my current collection is much larger and much more diverse. I know I probably didn’t have the cash to build up as varied and extensive a collection until I had left college. I reckon that my current collection began around 2004, when I started to work at a much better paying job.

ADDING TO THE COLLECTION
As you can imagine, when you have close to six hundred pairs of underwear, you sort of max out on the space that you have to accommodate that kind of volume of clothing. So any new additions have to be unusual in color, cut, or design. Right now, I’m really attracted to things that have fun or cool patterns or prints. As you can see from my Flickr album, I own almost every color imaginable, so anything new has to be different. This search for the unusual has pushed my purchases upscale. I started out with American brands like CK and 2xist, but now look for foreign brands like Nikos A., D&G, and Punto Blanco—which gets expensive.

I’m also a fan of underwear from other countries (I’m in the USA). I travel a lot and love to pick up new and different brands that are not available in the states. It’s fun when a guy unbuttons my pants and compliments my briefs and starts asking questions about them. It really gets him focused on the task on hand, and gets his eyes on the prize. My current favorites are Dolce and Gabbana and Nikos A.

I’m still buying briefs and get very excited when I’m shopping for them or waiting for them to be delivered. I hope that the fashion world never stops coming up with new colors or designs for them.

Having such a large collection of underwear leads to organization issues, like what exactly you have and where they're all located. Brflines keeps his collection organized by using an Excel spreadsheet. In his drawers he organizes them by color. How big is your collection and how do you keep it organized? Do you do it by style, color, brand, or something else?

Guest Post: Collecting

Today I am pleased to welcome guest poster James from James In Brief. James is a big underwear collector and his site is a combination of personal musings and showing off his collection. Every post includes a photo of him in his pair of the day (that's him below) along with a little tid bit about what's currently going on in his life. He then goes on to share lots of eye candy with his readers. So without further ado, here's James' guest post about collecting. And be sure to look out for more from James in the future.

Many people collect many different things. Jay Leno, for instance, collects cars and since he can afford it, good for him. I knew a gal who collected pigs… Porcelain pigs, pig towels, pig everything. Me, I collect underwear.

It all started years back, when I bravely decided to venture out of the tightie-whitie norm, and purchase that style in different colors. For whatever reason, which could be a whole different article, I became obsessed with underwear. Different colors led to different styles and the next logical step was bikinis, which seemed to get smaller and tighter as my collection grew.

It probably goes without saying that thongs, g-strings and jockstraps were not far behind. The beauty of collecting underwear is that the collection is endless… There will always be new styles, new cuts, new designs and new fabrics.

I did not mention boxers because they are my least favorite, but naturally they are included in my collection of hundreds or different pairs of underwear. Singlets? A few, of course.

I figure there are far worse or far more expensive things to collect, and I get to enjoy my collection literally every day! I could go on, but right now I need to run to the mailbox… I am expecting seven new thongs any day now!

Guest Review: S Brief

Please join me in welcoming our new guest reviewer Alex B.  Here's a bit about him in his own words.
I am a 22 year old college student, majoring in non-profit administration, who lives in Olympia, WA. I am at my last year of school and can't wait to be done. I also work for a non-profit so I don't have much time left but when I do I like to road bike and hang out. My favorite underwear is the aussieBum Cool Jock.

Today he will be reviewing the S-brief from Jameswinston.  I personally disagree with him on a few points, so look for my upcoming review of the S-brief for some point and counterpoint.  Here's Alex's review:
The timing for this review isn’t great, now that Jameswinston is telling us they are selling out, but I guess it will give you some insight into what you are missing out on, or a reminder for you to get a pair before it’s too late.

The S-brief, a new design in underwear, is super soft and looks wonderful while being worn, but lack my support in a few areas.

I’ll give you the good news first, when I first pulled these bad boys on the first thing I noticed was they didn’t hug or feel snug-- they felt almost loose, but they weren’t. They are very well fit and have a great fabric (rib 92% elastance 8%); however, they also lack elastic anywhere except the waistband. The next thing I noticed was how sexy they look on. They cover a little more then a normal brief but aren’t quite a trunk or boxerbrief. The s-brief is a whole new style and a great one at that. The red piping on mine added to it’s hotness factor. The S-brief with its plain waistband, except for an offset logo on the front and the Jameswinston Co. logo on the back, makes them look good under jeans too. These briefs are comfy and hot, but in reality they don’t last a day in my book.

Because they didn’t hug the body or have elastic around the legs, the s-brief doesn’t do much in the way of keeping your package in place. If I tried to run, skateboard, or really move at more then a walking pace I found that I would soon be “hanging out” the leg of these briefs. Trying to get your boys back in your undies without be noticed is not an easy task. The general lack of support from these is my biggest complaint. They are so soft and light that they would make a great workout brief and I wish I could wear them to the gym, but I don’t want to be readjusting every five minutes.

All in all, the S-brief is comfy and a great pair of undies for lounging around in, or great if you have a desk job. For an active lifestyle they just don’t fit the bill (or bulge). If you want something to sleep in or lay around in on Sunday mornings while still looking sexy hurry up and pick these guys up before they are all gone.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Jameswinston Co. S-brief a total score of 8.5 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 7 (out of 10)
COMFORT -- 9 (out of 10)
STYLE -- 9 (out of 10)
QUALITY -- 9 (out of 10)
VALUE -- 8 (out of 10)

********** 8.5

And be on the lookout for my review of the Jameswinston S-Brief. And for those of you who are wondering, yes that is Alex B in the photos.

Long Johns Compared

The following is another guest review from Nick from Michigan. Since it is winter in most parts of the world, he decided to compare some of his long underwear. His rating scale is out of 5 (not 10).

Under Armour Cold Gear Leggings

-As you can probably tell by the name, these long underwear are performance oriented, and skin tight. I really like wearing these out to jog because they are excellent at retaining heat and moving with me, much like a second skin. I do not recommend wearing these to work or class, because of the fabric texture, they're not exactly the most comfortable thing to sit in for extended periods of time.
Buy: http://www.sportsdepot.com/coldgear.html#0525
Price: $50

American Eagle Long John

-Although discontinued for this season, the AE Long John should be back next winter for a repeat performance. I really liked that they came in different colors, so I picked up a pair in blue. They turn up the fun factor in wearing long underwear. As far as keeping you warm, they do the job, even for extended periods.

Buy: Discontinued for the season (try AE next year)

Joe Boxer Long Underwear

-Finally, a plain white waffle long john that doesn't look like it belongs on an 80 year old. Even though Joe Boxer took a spin on this classic style, the stretchiness of the design feels slightly constrictive when worn under clothing. As sleeping underwear, they're pretty great. You can get them at Kmart in the US, and Sears in Canada. They should still be in stock, or even on clearance as spring collections roll out.

Buy: KMart or Sears brick and mortar stores

C-In2 Long Johns

-As far as casual long underwear goes, C-In2 takes the cake. Although the softness rating is a meager 1 on HisRoom, I would easily rate these a 2 or even 3. They're suitable for just about anything, including extended sitting, sleeping, outdoor activities, etc. One thing I thought was great was the "molded" crotch area. Unlike the other three, C-In2 gives you a little bit more room up front for the jewels.

Buy: http://www.hisroom.com/C-in2-Long-Johns,Cin201-1038,4.html
Price: $27 Currently on Sale: $18

Below, each pair is rated for comfort, style and durability. The "rating" number is from 1 (favorite) to 4 (least favorite).

Guest Review: 2 thongs...

Please welcome our guest reviewer Nick. Nick is from Michigan and is currently a senior in high school. He loves sports and hanging out with people. He's got an athletic body clocking in at 6'2" with a 31" waist. So enjoy his reviews.

C-In2 Thong - White
When I first decided to try a thong, I was reluctant. I honestly thought the string in the back was going to be an annoyance. After purchasing the C-In2 thong, I was proven extremely wrong. This thong is 100% cotton, with a microfiber waistband and a Y-shaped back. I think it's become my favorite pair of underwear, and I plan to buy more. The support is great, but again it has that "barely there" feeling. The fabric is extremely soft, and I can really tell it's high quality. The construction is flawless as well, I haven't seen a loose thread since I got the thing. I have nothing but praise for this thong, and the C-In2 company themselves because I see a consistent high-quality product from them.

COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10)
PRICE -- 9 (out of 10)
WEARABILITY -- 10 (out of 10)
DURABILITY -- 10 (out of 10)
OVERALL - 9.75 (out of 10)

N2N Cotton G Thong
After putting on the C-In2 thong, I went on to try my other purchase, the N2N Cotton G Thong. Sadly, I wasn't as impressed as I was with the other product. After slipping it on, the string in the back immediately became a nuisance. I'm not one to immediately get rid of things, so I just let it go for a while. After getting home for they day, the first thing I felt like doing was taking it off, and putting my C-In2 thong back on. The N2N's ¾ inch string was that bad. Although the fit was good and true to size, the string just really annoyed me. I'm not going to lie though, my package looked great in these. The lyrca content of the fabric gives a great elasticity to the pouch. So, while I was getting ready to put it in the wash, I noticed a small tear on the underside of the thong. Now, I'm not a big guy, and in no way was I stretching this thong out. After looking at that, I really did notice a few loose threads in the stitching. Those two things just cast a dark shadow on the build quality of the product. I'm reluctant to try N2N again after this purchase.

Guest Review: Magic Silk Thong

Here is yet another guest review from Ryan. You can view his previous review here. Please continue to give as much feedback on his review as possible. Thanks!

Greetings, fellow underwear lovers.

It's been a little over a month since my first post, and since you all seemed to enjoy it, here I am again.

This month's selection via the Mensuas Underwear of the Month Club is a Magic Silk black silk thong. At first glance, it is a basic, plain black thong. However, the best feature, in my mind, of this thong is the fabric. This is the first Magic Silk product I have owned, and if they are all like this thong, I would definitely check out the rest of the line. I don't know if it is made from 100% silk, but the fabric is very smooth, soft, and shiny. It doesn't stretch hardly at all, but it holds me like a glove.

This thong has no waistband, just fabric seamed over a thin elastic. The result is a very tight-fitting, but not cutting, waist. The same goes for the legs. The back, while not g-string thin, is narrow enough so that I don't notice it most of the time. There is a seam under the pouch, presumably to form a better pouch, but it doesn't do much for me. This seems to be a well-made item, but I wouldn't challenge its durability too much.

Overall, I think this is a great thong for wearing out to a club, on a date, etc., but not as an all-day foundation garment. It will definitely win you points in the bedroom (my wife really likes it), but its perceived lack of durability keeps me from recommending it as an all-wear item. If you are looking for extra support/enhancement, this is not your thong. However, if you like the feel of silk and want a nice wrapping for your package, this thong is for you.

MY RATING: Overall, I give the Magic Silk Thong a total score of 8.5 because it isn't all that special, but it is a nice thong, and not bad for $12.50 based on the following criteria:
COMFORT -- 9(out of 10)
CONSTRUCTION -- 10 (out of 10)
DURABILITY -- 7 (out of 10)
SEX APPEAL-- 10 (out of 10)
VALUE --9 (out of 10)

Guest Review: Tactics Sport Thong

Hey guys, the following post is a guest review from Ryan. Be sure to let me know (in the form of comments or email) what you think of his review. If you like it, he'll write more!
Hello, guys. I'm Ryan, and this is the first in (hopefully) a series of posts with product reviews, discussion questions, and the like.

Just to start, let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 22, newlywed, and a grad student at a small Midwestern school. I just recently started to get into fashion underwear, so my collection is small, but little by little growing.

A mainstay of what I'll be reviewing is my monthly shipment from the Mensuas Underwear of the Month Club. This is a great idea for an underwear retailer, and I look forward to getting some fun stuff. For those of you who don't know about it, the Mensuas Club is a deal where you subscribe through PayPal, tell Mensuas your size, and each month they send you a pair of underwear, of their choosing. One side perk of this arrangement is that Mensuas is a PayPal rewards vendor, so you will get back 5% on your purchases. The following is my review of my first shipment, so if you like what you read, let the owners of this blog know, and you'll get more from me.

Product of the month: Tactics Sport Thong

I'm sorry to say that I have no idea where to get this thong. Mensuas doesn't list it on their site, and UnderGear doesn't either; the only place I could find it online is eBay. This is sad, because overall, this thong is very comfortable.

I have a half-dozen or so different thongs, and so far, the Tactics Sport is the most comfortable for all-day wear. Mensuas sent me a black one and a white one, and they are both well-pleasing. A fairly standard soft-elastic waistband holds its shape throughout the day, and doesn't cut into my hips. The pouch is very soft cotton jersey-like material - single-layer, so the white is just slightly sheer (just enough to be fun). It is definitely the largest pouch of any of the thongs I have, but not oversized. Rather, it holds my package securely without squashing anything or having gaps on the sides. My favorite feature of all on this thong is the back. A normal Y-back connects to a strap that is about 1/2" wide, made of the same material as the pouch. I wore mine all day, two days in a row, and I never felt the butt-strap at all.

The only thing that could use improvement, in my opinion, is the waistband. It is fairly standard elastic - not terrible, but not overly comfortable. I wish Tactics would have softened the inside of the band.

This is definitely not the most sexy thong out there - full frontal coverage, and not very revealing - but it is great as all-day underwear. I even wore it under a suit, and it felt awesome. I played soccer in it, and it was completely comfortable the whole game. If I knew where to get it, I would definitely buy more of these.

MY RATING: Overall, I give the Tactics Sport Thong a total score of 9.25 (only because it isn't particularly sexy, and because of the waistband) based on the following criteria:
COMFORT -- 9.5 (out of 10)
Appeal -- 8 (out of 10)
WEARABILITY -- 11 (out of 10)
DURABILITY -- 10 (out of 10)

A Jock Review by a Jock

Hey Guys,
This is a test guest review by Chandler. If you guys like what he writes, let me know and he may become a full-time reviewer. Here's a bit of information about this jock boy:
This year he’ll be starting his senior year of high school in backwoods Kentucky. He does a lot of traveling, and whenever he's on vacation he likes to pick up new underwear or swimwear. At his high school he plays varsity soccer, swimming, and track, "I’m a bit of an athlete" he says. But he's also known for his sense of style, "I’m a sucker for really good underwear, and I feel its less important the price, and more important how the underwear makes you feel. I love to wear swim briefs, and whenever its swimming season, my teammates are always amazed by the new 'speedos' I wear. My friends are always asking me for advice on what to wear, so I guess I’m a little obsessive about what I wear." Well there you have it, so without further ado I give you Chandler's review.
I once read somewhere that N2N should attach a label to all their products saying "Shave your pubes" and from the very moment I put on the N2N Tropic jock I found this statement to be true, this jock is truly low-rise. N2N Bodywear has long been know for its innovative designs and use of fabrics, and this one definitely does not come up short on either. This jock is designed using slim straps and their Tropics fabric, which is part rayon and part spandex. This makes the jock very light and breathable, and allows the fabric to contour to you. It has a certain way of just gently cupping, and giving the right amount of support. This isn't your old school jock either; I am an athlete in every sense of the word I run three miles a day and play four varsity sports at my high school, so I would say I'm used to wearing a jock, although in recent years I have opted for compression shorts for support, but when its 90 degrees outside a jock seems much more comfortable. I found that the N2N was not only supportive, it was the most comfortable (and sexy) jock I have ever worn. I am a big believer that a jock is not only for sports but should also be comfortable enough to wear as regular underwear. So I found that after wearing this one for several days, and washing it nightly, that I have no complaints with anything about this jock. During the day I often forgot I was even wearing one, which I feel is a sign of great underwear. Before wearing this one I was afraid of how my jeans would feel against my bare behind, (I personally have never worn a thong, and prefer full coverage in the rear) but I actually think that was one of my favorite parts of this jock. I put the jock to the ultimate challenge by wearing it to a soccer scrimmage. Normally stuff wants to fall out, but with the N2N everything down there stayed in place. When running down the field everything held tight, and unlike jocks with wider straps the N2N didn’t constrict any leg movement. My only complaint on this jock is after several washes the straps in the back started to stretch, and caused the front to sag as well, which allowed for bunching right between the legs.

All in all this is the best jock that I've worn, it is a great value, and I have now converted from a true compression shorts follower to a faithful jock-strap wearer. Whether you are an athlete or not, this is definitely one of the most comfortable pieces of underwear you could ever add to your collection. And don't forget to shave your pubes (if you're wearing this one).

MY RATING:

Overall, I give the N2N Tropic Jock a total score of 7 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 6 (out of 10)
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10)
STYLE -- 7 (out of 10)
QUALITY -- 7 (out of 10)
VALUE -- 8 (out of 10)

How to get your dik off the ground

Here's the promised post from co-founder of dik Marcus:
Hi there, and welcome from dik. Underwear Blog has graciously offered to let us talk about what it’s like to start a high-end men’s underwear company. In the coming weeks and months, I’ll post every so often with personal updates about our progress.

Ever wanted to start your own underwear company? It’s an exciting process but as cliché as it sounds, it takes a lot of work. And you better be prepared for surprises along the way and don’t set a schedule and expect it to stick. In fact, there’s a bunch of steps you need to complete before you can even start thinking about firm timelines.

We think our idea is pretty clever, and like most clever ideas, it started in a bar, two guys, and a whole bunch of pints. That’s how dik was born. Once we had our ‘concept’ it was all about finding someone to help us create it.

If you’ve never done something like this before, it can be pretty overwhelming. Register the business; find a lawyer first; do a trademark search; create business cards; print business cards; find a web developer; come up with a design concept; find an exporter; etc., etc. The list seems to go on and on, and we haven’t even got to the point where we work on getting a product developed!

My business partner I are very fortunate because we both have the exact same vision for where we want this brand to go. That has been a real blessing because it has given us the faith to trust the other all the time. When you’re starting something like this that’s vital because there are times at the start when decisions need to be made fast that you don’t have time to consult the other (such as my solo trip to China, but that’s a separate post!).

We’re also lucky to have some contacts in the import/export world. It’s a pretty crazy business and having had an expert, who also is a professional colleague to my co-founder prior to this, has been a real blessing. It hasn’t been a smooth ride to-date, but starting the next big brand in men’s underwear isn’t exactly a small goal, so it’s going to take some time and sweat!

Thanks for taking an interest in dik and our journey to market. If there’s anything you’d like to hear about, shoot me a line.

Guest Post: THE BOXER MYSTIQUE

UMan Says: The following is an exclusive guest post from B-Dogg written especially for this blog. I think this post will add a nice difference of opinion. Please read and give B-Dogg your honest (and respectful) feedback. B-Dogg also wrote the Boxerselegence post.

If you are a guy who loves to wear boxer shorts you probably do so for a number of reasons personal to you. Probably you find them comfortable and versatile, and with interesting patterns you like. But, what is the missing element? What is it that makes them almost addictive, makes them so fascinating that you just want to buy every pair you see? Now, let's go a step further. You are a boxer wearer, but no, you are more.....you are a sagger. A person who wears boxer shorts and then either wears them so others can see them, or wears the pants extra low and then covers them boxers with a large shirt. Why this is so popular is a mystery. We can guess colorful style, sexual expression and attractiveness, rebellious attitude etc and if it was here and there, it could be dismissed as being no more prominent than any other fashion style over the last 30 years, here today and gone tomorrow like zoot suits and bell bottoms--which of course come back in style now and again as do most clothing styles every 30 years or so. No, we are speaking of an American trend in which a very high percentage of boys and young men do it. Moreover, this trend has lasted more than 10 years without stopping.....and throughout its 10 to 15 years has expanded by a) being worn by more and more guys as a percentage of the population b) being worn at a deeper level and c) being worn by younger and younger guys.

Trends being what they are, this one is definitely on the upswing. At some point, people who do not like the style started to notice that it was taking over. So pervasive it became that schools started making rules banning it. And why? People fear what they don't understand. And sagger, I am here to tell you that there are adults who agree with sagging and do not agree with rules stopping it. I'm a an adult and here are a few reasons I think sagging is important and should be protected as a freedom.
1) It's good for the economy. Most people who want to show their boxer shorts own at least a few pairs that are the special patterned designs. Overall, the sagger who wishes to be complete probably owns more pairs of boxers than the person who wears plain stuff. Let us not forget the fancy belts needed to hold the sag in the desired position. And, boxers placed on sale next to other merchandise, such as skateboarding goods, could inspire someone to make additional purchases.
2) Slows the emasculation of males. Throughout history men of strength have been portrayed in statuary and art as muscle bound and heroic. Often they are depicted only with fig leaves or togas. Men were hunters, soldiers and politicians, beings of power. Today, sagging can assist in resurrecting this thought. I believe we as a society want young men to be emotionally softer than historically. So, letting young men be saggers is another way to permit men to show that they are not afraid of what people think, that they have independent ideas, that they show style, and that they wish to send a message to others that should be heard. In young men and boys, the style is imitated, to send a new generation up to the ranks as the other one ages. We need a constant stream of sagging guys starting young to move up through the sagger ranks.
3) Unmasks hypocrisy. More and more guys are becoming saggers, even in the face of some of the strongest opposition. Ever notice those who are making the rules have never tried it for themselves? The more they try, the more people disobey and thats the way to change a world. In a way its like the former South Africa where a small percentage of the people dictated to a majority without even asking their opinion. Well, soon the tide will be so great that nobody can stop it. And thats the way the world evolves. It changes in favor of the path of least resistance. People yelling from their balconies to the millions of people below that they are all wrong in their
fashion choices will just have their voices grow fainter and ever fainter. Such is the effect of underwear.

Well those reasons are something to think about. I also want to say, please don't let the fashion die because you don't see it going anywhere. It's one of those things where you don't know the good you are doing. Sagger, did you know that people are watching you. In the malls, at the skate park, walking down the street, people are watching you. People are enjoying the sight of sags. A car may drive by, looks ordinary enough, but inside is somebody going WOW, perhaps craning their neck for another look. And you thought you were just imitating your friends, keeping the sag alive for the future. No. Every sagger should know that every time a sag is displayed it will affect some member of the public. Someone you probably weren't aware of. Some will say, GOD THAT IS AWFUL...some will say...WOW look at the SAG on that GUY. Maybe its a girl/guy who says omg that guy is HOT, maybe a mom who says my god does my son look like that...maybe its another guy sagger who says gee that sag is lower than mine. It doesnt matter...but sagger you should know it is vital that you continue because sagging is All American for the reasons above and perhaps most importantly it FORCES AN OPINION OR THOUGHT. Good or bad, you are forcing the observer to take a viewpoint. You are provoking action. In some cases you are bringing incredible happiness to perfect strangers who just love to see sags. Again, you are oblivious to
this....but please keep it up, you do not know the good you are doing. KEEP THE FAITH and pass the word.

boxerelegance

FROM BLUE: This article was sent to me by e-mail by a reader. He has requested that his name be withheld.

"Being a sagger isn't always easy. If you ask a sagger why they show their boxers, I bet most of them would say they don't know, or were even not aware that they were showing them particularly, just that its how they dress. Just walking down the street showing boxers immediately labels you in terms of how you are perceived by the viewer. Depending on the depth of the sag and the clothing chosen, as well as personal appearance, you may viewed alternately as a disgusting, slovenly slacker with no social morality, or the coolest guy on the face of the planet. Let's face it, some guys can carry off a deep sag and wear it brilliantly, others are best left not trying it. Alot depends on the boxers you choose. This in mind, and armed with the knowledge that boxers are but one tool in a male's arsenal of clothing, we can devise a way to use boxers to their fullest advantage by coordinating them with other pieces of clothing for maximum effect.
The image above illustrates a guy who has used his brain to use boxers very well. Let's examine further. The use of blue jeans is good one. Blue jeans have the casual look yet are easily accessorized with any number of fashionable belts. The range of jeans available today is almost unending, and guys who intentionally wear jeans low will find jeans available with lower pockets and lower seams so that the functions of the jeans are still accessible even under a long shirt. The belt is simple and elegant with a center of focus. All too often, a good sag is completely ruined or lost by the use of overly studded belts or other detracting additions. Someone who wears overpowering belts or other heavy accessories probably has their own reasons for doing so. If you asked them why they do it, this time you would probably get an answer and it might not be very nice. Certainly it would have little to do with boxers or sagging. In our example above, the belt is used jointly with the right pair of jeans to hold the jeans in the place the wearer wishes but also allowing the guy to casually put his hands in the pockets and push the jeans lower should this be wanted. The new position would then also be held in place by the belt.
In this example, the guy has chosen a long white sleeveless shirt, called a wife-beater colloquially. This has many advantages. It is very light material, so it is very suitable for being outside in hot weather. Its long, so you can have low jeans but still have some of the boxers covered. Its thin, so that his curves and muscles may be seen by those who care to, while still being under cover to those who don't care to. Thin material also lets people who are interested see through it to see how much of the boxers are under fabric, perhaps what brand they are or style, without them being truly on display. This gives the illusion of the boxers being showed maybe 1/4 when in fact the jeans may actually be sitting at 1/2 or more. If the guy found himself in a situation such as the beach, or skateboard park, somewhere among friends or where entertainment is more tolerated, he could easily remove the shirt and put it in his pocket and carry off a fairly nice belted sag complimented with a physique that will draw people to look at it. If he returned to something more controlled, such as shopping in a mall, the shirt can be easily reworn. He has a necklace in keeping with current style, and his hats are all multifunctional. The skull cap for skating and the ball cap on top for hanging out. In fact the two together is something I have not seen before, but to me it just makes him look versatile and sporty. I am drawn to think he might be a skater, even with no board shown. The boxers themselves are of a simple pattern and masculine color. We cannot see if there is a lettered waistband from this image, however if there was a passerby could notice it through the shirt fabric. The absence of a noticeable waistband does not label him a fashion nobody. Instead, it simply reaffirms that a person can look great and socially in reason at all times using boxers without necessarily spending a lot of money on a designer pair and by using common articles of clothing any male is likely to have or can obtain cheaply. This example is socially within reason. This person could walk into nearly any social situation and be appropriately dressed with the versatility to adjust further if need be. His appearance is neat and clean, not slovenly or unkempt. Although I would never suggest someone become something they are not just for appearance sake, I do think it is important to realize how powerful a tool boxers are and that used correctly this power can serve one well."
