However, be warned, do not make the fatal mistake of going commando. You’d think removing underwear altogether should keep you cooler, yet this couldn’t be further from the truth. Whereas underwear creates a barrier between skin and the heavier materials you wear as part of your shorts or trousers, going commando results in this heavy material being in direct contact with the skin, reducing circulation and increasing clamming exponentially! Definitely not cool!

Super Hero Briefs from DIESEL

DC Comics and DIESEL have joined forces to bring to you super hero undies!  The range includes four unique boxers inspired by four comic book heroes: Batman, Joker, the Flash, and the Green Lantern.  Like the superheroes themselves, each of these undies features a special, unique power. The Batman boxer, for instance, will reveal a secret armor all over the more you wash and wear it.  The Flash print contains a thermo-sensitive print that will change and move as you wear it, reacting to your body heat.  The Green Lantern print has a florescent treatment on it, with a special print being visible after it is exposed to light. And finally, the Joker print features a photo-print acid effect.  

These boxers are for spring/summer 2012, but it appears that at least the Joker print is already available online at DIESEL's site for $34.  I think, though, my favorite design is the Batman one.

Opinion: Did Diesel Go Too Far?

Today we bring you a new contributor Dr. NutHut.  He will be writing all sorts of opinion pieces for us.  Be sure to let us know your thoughts on our newest addition to the MUB force. 

Advertising is an art and in the world of art you’re given an endless supply of freedom. It’s hard to judge art because really there is no wrong way to produce it. However in the world of advertising this art has to be formulated to fit an audience. And in the process of it’s creation it must follow certain marketing, commercial and legal obligations along the way. Sometime ads come out that shock and even disgust individuals, which often is the intent. Or perhaps the endorsement was aimed at the audience drawn to that particular subject matter. Whatever the case the advertiser got your attention, even if you didn‘t want that. This happened recently with a particular promotion for Diesel Underwear shot at the Brooklyn Law School.

The Dean of Brooklyn Law School Michael Gerber called the shots for Diesels Underwear ads inappropriate advertising that caused discomfort and embarrassment for the school. The Dean sent an email out to students apologizing for the ad campaign that was shot on the schools campus. “That’s how much respect they have for the school” said a local woman to the New York Post. Michael from Brooklyn NY said “I see nothing positive about this”. Jordan Hersch a student at the school said “I thought the ad was disgusting”. Some other students were not happy that the behavior in the ads was happening in their library.

After taking this criticism Diesel released more photos from the same campaign except this time the pictures where taken at the New York City Transit Museum. It featured models in Diesel underwear flashing imaginary passengers. However as opposed to the Law School's reaction, Aaron Donovan the Museums spokesman said “this photo shoot was closed to the public, and it provided revenue need to help keep the museum operating”. And even with the Brooklyn Law School shoot not everyone was upset. A lot of students had no problem with the campaign. One man named David from Brooklyn told the New York Post “It’s not inappropriate, it’s clothes, it’s fashion, it’s what Diesels known for”.

So did Diesel go to far? Although the School and many other individuals strongly feel they did, they have to admit legally Diesel did nothing wrong. The fashion company went through all the right channels and received full permission from the school to do the shoot. They went in, did their shoot, paid the school and went on their way. The school agreed to this. The school should have done their research if they were honestly worried about their reputation. A quick Google search of Diesel ads would have told them that they weren’t dealing with L.L. Bean. And Diesel has the full right to advertise this way directing their marketing to a more off-the-beaten-path demographic. Some may not agree with their style nor their grubby slogans and they don’t have to support the company. However we do want to support freedom and diversity. So it’s too bad the Brooklyn Law School had to undergo this discomfort but maybe now they know to do a little investigation before signing a contract. And Diesel well keep being Diesel.

Allen Walker for International Jock

Allen Walker is one of the newest additions to the impressive lineup of handsome male models who adorn the pages of International Jock. Allen has been in Los Angeles pursuing his modeling and acting career for just over six months. He recently signed with Nous Model Management where his career has been flourishing. In addition to his recent mens underwear and mens swimwear shoots for International Jock, Allen has worked for Abercrombie, completed an editorial for Out Magazine with photographer Doug Inglish and another with photographer Bruce Weber.

New Banner...

As some of you have noticed there are new images in the M.U.B. banner, it is part of the new design to change the banner seasonally. You may be thinking that what you're seeing isn't underwear and you would be correct, it's swimwear! With swim season very close at hand M.U.B. will focus on swimwear in addition to underwear since the two are so closely related. You may also be thinking, "what are those lovely suits depicted in the banner?" I'm so glad you asked, let me tell you about them. Number 1 is the famous Grigio Perla suit featured in the latest James Bond movie and so fanatically discussed. Unfortunately these sold out quickly at International Jock, but you can still purchase the same styling (different colors) there for $122. Number 2 is from Diesel. It is the Lord Board short which comes in a multitude of colors including orange (shown), blue, and green. New Diesel Swimwear

New from Diesel

Diesel has just recently launched a new line of men's underwear. This is the new metallic stud line. The waistband features the Diesel logo in metallic studs and contrast metallic top-stitching throughout. The Diesel undies come in briefs and trunks in red, white, and black. They retail for about $35 and $38 respectively. Metallic detailing is a trend that we are seeing more and more throughout men's world. Designer Underwear

Why buy designer underwear? Why not just buy Hanes, Fruit of the Loom, Jockey, and other such brands? That is the question that I am often asked. Well there are a lot of reason to buy things besides generic brands. First off there is the quality and comfort factor. You are more likely to get quality and lasting underwear if they don't come in a three-pack. But you do also have to keep in mind that not all expensive underwear is good quality (but in my experience, most of it is). Second, there is the sexy factor. Usually designer underwear tends to look more sexy because it is better fitting and just that whole designer label thing (but there are some people who are so sexy that they can make any underwear look sexy). But this last reason, is what I consider to be my most interesting and most sincere answer. In a country (the USA) where everything is run by money, many dream of owning expensive things, including designer clothing. The thing is, designer clothing can be quite expensive. But if you buy designer underwear you don't necessarily have to be rich to own it because usually underwear is the most inexpensive thing that a designer makes. Also, if someone sees a designer label on your waistband they will assume that you must be wearing all designer clothing. Because after all, not very many people wear designer underwear and Wal-Mart everything else.
