The Jameswinston NEON, a review

There are two things that I have to say before I launch into this review: first, this review (along with many others) is long overdue, I'm very sorry for that and hopefully I'll be getting back into the whole reviewing mindset; second, my first review of a Jameswinston product got a perfect score, so that's a very high standard for Jameswinston to live up to.

Jameswinston set the bar very high for themselves when they first launched about a year ago. Their styles and looks for their products are very unique and fun, the NEON is no different. The NEON has funky styling and fun colors that just scream "wear me!" I love the look of these, and they make a statement no matter when and where you wear them. These are very aptly labelled "the party pant"because they really would be great at a party, and for many other occasions.

In terms of the cut, it is quite skimpy and takes a bit of getting used to. There is virtually no inseam (maybe about half an inch) so the legs are even with the crotch. The waist is very low-rise with a wide waistband of the same material as the rest of the trunk. This makes for a very diminutive brief that just covers the essentials. The way in which the waistband is made also allows for a very streamlined look when under tight fitting pants (or outside of pants). The folks at Jameswinston pay exceptional attention to minute details. All the seams perfectly fit with the styling and look of the undies and the unique labels on the waistband help create the Jameswinston image.

In terms of the fit, it is quite tight; in other words the fabric fits very snugly against the body. I personally like this feeling because it makes me feel supported, but it is all a matter of personal preference. My only real issue is that the fabric does not stretch very much, therefore when you sit and bend over the briefs tend to ride down and thus one must occasionally pull them back into place.

These undies at first appear to be basic, but they are actually anything but that. However, they are a unique twist on the basic so they could be used for any situation when one would normally wear basics (or fun stuff). The unique twist on basic styling really makes these undies versatile and appropriate for any situation.

Overall, these trunks are great! My only complaint is that they don't stay in place when moving (so they would be very inappropriate for sports). But I would not have them compromise the excellent cut in order to prevent them from riding down. Thus I would not make any changes (except for maybe try more stretchy material for construction).

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Jameswinston Co. Brand NEON Trunk a total score of 9 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 9.5 (out of 10)
COMFORT -- 9.5 (out of 10)
STYLE -- 10 (out of 10)
QUALITY -- 10 (out of 10)
VALUE -- 10 (out of 10)

********** 9

Thanks for the review Uman. I just wanted to state something we made clear on our website. You'll find that all our styles of underwear are motivated by different themes. NEON was our version of a go-go boy pant. i.e not truly designed for 'everyday' wear as it's cut small and all about showing up, showing out and (hopefully) feeling very sexy! ;) We advise anyone who wants to feel a little 'naughty in the office' to buy the size UP for all-day comfort. We're truly looking forward to 2008 as we plan to launch seven new ranges (10 new styles) which are all are inspired by very different things and generally won't look like anything you've seen around (especially the designs from Apr onwards). We know by the sheer number of underwear companies that have taken influence from some of our visuals that we're on the right track. Also the reaction to the quslity of our product from international magazine editors has been phenomenal! So for now, we'll say thanks to blogs sites such for allowing us the platform to listen and learn. We'll be going to another even funkier level next year and we can't wait to innovate!:)

Kind regards
