Equmen - A Review

Performance underwear has long been a staple in the men's underwear world, but recently there has been a push towards making performance wear also stylish.  These new ideas for men's performance underwear are represented by the Equmen collection.  Specially designed with a precision fit to give you the ultimate in support and performance, Equmen helps keep you comfortable while working out or just hanging at the office.  Equmen is most noted for their core precision undershirts that help support your core and reduce back pain and stress.  Today, however, I will be reviewing their precision brief (I tried a blue one).

These things fit like a glove.  These low-rise briefs are streamlined and well fitted.  There are no extra seams or stitches, they've taken the brief back to the basics in terms of construction.  Upon first glance, the fabric looks as though it's not going to be very comfortable.  It has a very sexy sheen, but it looks thick and artificial.  But don't let that fool you, this fabric is soft and stretchy.  It is a blend of nylon, micropolyester, and spandex.  It breathes well and has wicking performance to keep you dry all day long now matter how hard you're working.  The rear has a special vent to help keep you dry where you tend to sweat the most (right in the lower back above your crack). The fabric here has a slightly different stitch, but you won't notice it unless you're looking for it.  The fabric is design to stretch and pull in a way that works with your anatomy to keep everything optimally supported and in place.  The contoured pouch is double layered and has a seam down the middle and two on the sides.  It expands well when needed, but holds everything in place as well.

These briefs are very basic looking, but there is a sophisticated style about them.  They aren't just your everyday, boring briefs.  They come in blue, black, gray, and white.  There is a line of accent color on the waistband (the blue ones have a white band).  There is no writing on the waist, instead it is kept plain and simple - sophisticated.  Centered, in the back of the waistband is a logo patch that is very sexy and stylish peeking above your pants. As I already noted, the fabric has a slight sheen to it that makes these things not just your average briefs.

I have had these for quite some time now, and have worn them many times.  In fact, they're one of my go-to pairs, especially on hot days or when I know I'm going to be doing some physical activity.  I like them because they keep me dry and comfy, and they're just easy - effortless style.  That being said, I've washed them many times and they are holding up beautifully.  There is only slight pilling starting to happen on the waistband after almost a year of wear, so that's pretty good. And they should be too, because these things run in a little high at $50 a pair.  But that being said, these are performance underwear, which usually runs a little more than regular undies.  These are good quality undies that will hold up well under pressure - and we all need a pair like that sometimes.  So if you're willing to pay a little more for performance wear that's gonna hold up well and last, these are the pair for you.  They also make trunks and long trunks if you prefer those styles instead.  Personally I like my legs to be a little more free when working out that's why I opt for these briefs.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Equmen Briefs a total score of 8 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 10 (out of 10) - Stripped down to the basics.  Well fitted and low-rise.
COMFORT -- 9 (out of 10) - Surprisingly comfortable fabric.  Keeps you dry with wicking performance.
STYLE -- 8 (out of 10) - Basic and sophisticated.
QUALITY -- 9 (out of 10) - Holds up great after a long time, only slight pilling on waistband.
VALUE -- 6 (out of 10) - Expensive but good quality.

New Brand: Good Devil

Just in time for Halloween we bring you Good Devil.  What's better than dressing up as a devil?  Dressing up as a Good Devil.  This fun new brand combines a little bit of naughty with a little bit of nice.  Good Devil is known for their sheer and sexy styles that leave very little to the imagination.  You can get them at Underwear Station or Undergear
Preview Bikini
This relatively new brand, already has a number of collections to choose from.  Including the preview collection, which offers a little peek at what's inside your pouch by means of slits in the front.  The fabric has a metallic shine that adds that little extra oomph.  The preview comes in bikini (shown), boxer, g-string, and jockstrap styles.

Another fun collection is the mesh print collection.  This collection, as you'd expect, is mesh.  You can either get it plain, or with fun tribal or dragon prints.  They come in red, blue, and white and an array of styles.  See model Levi Poulter strut his stuff in the mesh collection at the International Lingerie Show in the video at the end of this post.  More videos of Good Devil in action are available on Underwear Stations' YouTube channel

Propel Boxer with blue accents.
And finally, the last collection I want to talk about is the Good Devil Propel collection.  This collection is also made of mesh.  The whole collection is black mesh with red, white, or blue accents (your choice).  The colored accents are opaque and are carried out on the waistband and around the pouch (but the pouch still shows your junk).  You can get it in a brief, boxer or a thong.

The Good Devil collection is super sexy and will bring out that little devil in the best of you.  It is perfect for the bedroom, but it is comfy enough that you definitely could wear it all day.  I have had the opportunity to try out some of this great collection, and so far I'm very impressed.  It is sexy and sophisticated, with quality materials so that it does not seem tacky or vulgar.  Stay tuned for a full review.  In the meantime you can purchase Good Devil from Underwear Station or Undergear for $12 - $30 depending on the style.  And at Undergear take 20% off your purchase for being a MUB reader using coupon code 'UGOFF4'.

Contest Update: More Entry Options

So a few of you have expressed some concerns about the aussieBum My Favorite Day Contest entry being too complicated.  So we've added some additional entry options to make it easier for you.  We want to see as many of you winning as possible!  In addition to submitting a photo of underwear (with or without you) that demonstrates your favorite day of the week, you can also:
  • Submit a photo of you in your favorite pair of underwear and tell us why it's your favorite.
  • Or you can comment on a post on this site from the past three months.  Be sure to include the words "MyDay Contest Entry" at the end of your post so we know that's what you're doing.  Then send us an email with a link to your comment for it to count.  Be sure to write something thoughtful as they will be judged qualitatively, not selected randomly.
You may still only do one entry per day, you cannot do one of each method.  Good luck.

Can You See My Bum in This Gear? - A Review

Bum Gear Mesh T-shirt and Boxer.
Bum Gear is a great new brand of men's underwear. They are probably most noted for their extensive mesh line, which I am going to review today.  It comes in a variety of vibrant colors and sexy styles.  They even have matching mesh t-shirts to complete the look.  For the purpose of today's review I'm going to discuss the Bum Gear briefs in royal blue.

The fit of these briefs is quite skimpy.  The sides are high-rise, in fact there is even less side coverage on these than on the Bum Gear thongs.  These briefs also have a low-rise waist so there is not much coverage on either end.  The back is full and fitted while the pouch is large and gives you ample room to show off your junk.  Bum Gear promotes the pouch as being "HUGE", but don't worry, it's not too big that you'll be just flapping around.  It is spacious compared to most low-rise briefs, but it is tailored in such a way that you are still going to get all the support you need from it.

I'm actually quite impressed with how comfortable these things are.  They're made out of 94% polyester and 6% spandex, so they don't sound like they'd be too comfortable.  But they actually are.  Like I said, the pouch provides all the support you need and cups your manhood perfectly.  It holds you so that you look impressive, but it isn't ridiculous either.  Now because these things are made out of mesh, they keep you cool.  But don't think these are good for athletics.  While they do allow air to flow, they do not actually wick away in moisture so if you get all sweaty these are not going to be comfy.  That being said, I'm impressed with how comfortable this mesh actually is.  It is a super-fine knit so that it feels soft against your skin and isn't abrasive to the touch.

The style of these is quite out there and in your face.  With these you'll have nothing to hide, or at least you better not because they won't hide it.  Don't be fooled, just because they are tinted various colors does not mean that they are in the least bit opaque.  These briefs allow every little bit of your fleshy parts to be seen (even more so than in the pictures).  I absolutely love this about them!  They are super sexy.  These undies are great to spice up the mood in the bedroom, but they're also comfortable enough that you can wear them all day and not have to change into them before bed.  While these are the epitome of sexy, they are not vulgar, and that's why I like them.  Oftentimes so-called sexy underwear looks like you're getting ready to do a pornshoot or are about to host a fetish party.  But not these.  While they could be appropriate for those occasions, Bum Gear has managed to make mesh look really classy.  I think part of it is the wide, normal-sized, logo waistband.  These look just like your normal pair of briefs, but they've been sexed about a bit with the choice of fabric.

These briefs are really well made.  They stretch in all the right ways, but they keep their shape.  The fabric is very fine and delicate looking, but it actually holds up perfectly in the washing machine (line dry of course).  For $24 a piece, this sexy little number is worth every penny.  They are fun and comfortable to wear, they look great, and they're super sexy. While the blue that I got is currently out of stock, there are many other great colors to choose from.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Bum Gear Mesh Briefs a total score of 9 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 9 (out of 10) -High-rise legs with low-rise waist make for a skimpy fit.  Special contoured pouch.
COMFORT -- 9 (out of 10) - Considering these are made of all artificial fibers, they are surprisingly comfortable and soft.
STYLE -- 9 (out of 10) - Epitome of sexy, but not vulgar.
QUALITY -- 9 (out of 10) - Looks delicate, but is actually durable.
VALUE -- 7 (out of 10) - Expensive but sexy.

aussieBum: My Favorite Day Contest

Today I'm pleased to announce the launch of our aussieBum contest.  Yes the one I hinted at on Friday.  You may remember a while back I blogged about the new aussieBum MyDay collection.  Well only Monday and Tuesday are out for the public.  But aussieBum is giving MUB readers the exclusive opportunity to get their hands on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday pairs before they're released.

In the past we've done all sorts of different methods for having you enter contests.  But this time we're gonna do it a little different.  We want YOU to be more creative.  And what about the number of winners?  Well that all depends on how many great entries you guys submit.  We will be giving away at least 6 pairs, but who knows, we may decide to give out more.

Here's what you have to do.  In keeping with the MyDay collection, we want you to choose your favorite day of the week, be it Friday, Saturday, or something in the middle of the week, and we want you to take a picture involving underwear that evokes your feelings about that day.  You do not have to be wearing the underwear, but it has to be in the picture.  And then we want a sentence or two explaining why it is your favorite day and how the picture relates.  For example, Wednesday might be your favorite day because you get to go home early and make love with your spouse all night.  So you may want to take a picture of your sexy undies thrown across a romantic bed covered in rose petals and candles.  That's just an idea, I know you guys can think of many more.  Once you've taken your photo, send it and the paragraphs to me via email (underwearblog - at - gmail.com) and be sure to make the subject line include "My favorite day".

Update 10/27/10: There are two new entry methods
  • Submit a photo of you in your favorite pair of underwear and tell us why it's your favorite.
  • Or you can comment on a post on this site from the past three months.  Be sure to include the words "MyDay Contest Entry" at the end of your post so we know that's what you're doing.  Then send us an email with a link to your comment for it to count.  Be sure to write something thoughtful as they will be judged qualitatively, not selected randomly.
You may only do one entry and one entry method per day.

The better the entries are, the more pairs we will be giving away.  The contest will end at Midnight on Halloween, October 31, 2010 November 7, 2010.  So send your entries in before that or you might turn into a pumpkin!

Now just a few technical details:
-No exposed bits (we have to be able to post these on the site)
-1 entry per day
-the photo can be of any brand of underwear, not just aussieBum
-enter only your own photos, not your friends or net shots (if we doubt it's you we may ask for verification)
-Entry times will be calculated off of EST.
-The entry period 10/24/10 - 10/31/10.11/7/10
-Decisions of the judges are final and are subjective.
-Your entries will become the property of MUB and aussieBum and may be posted on this site and affiliated sites even if you do not win.
-There will be at least six winners.
-MUB and aussieBum reserve the right to change the rules as needed.

Edward Scissorhands Wears Sheer Undies - A Piece of Underwear Prose

Intymen Mesh Brief.
Today I bring you a little piece of underwear inspired fiction from a guest poster. It's written by Tony from Underwear-Addict. You may remember the site name from back when it used to be an e-commerce site. Tony has since taken it over and it is now informative only. I thought this piece was especially appropriate to publish now with Halloween only a week away. It's a fictitious piece about Edward Scissorhands and the sheer underwear that he uses to cover his piece. For more great articles like this one, be sure to check out Tony's great site. Enjoy!

To off set the weight of his top-heavy shears, Edward Scissorhands keeps his bottom light in a pair of mens sheer underwear.

Edward Scissorhands knows the importance of dressing sharp while playing it safe below the belt with his soft fleshy side tucked safely inside a pair of mens sheer underwear.

Delicate yet durable, his pliable synthetic parts require comfort and support contrary to his heavy metal hands. Unwieldy and clumsy, his hands have trouble in grasping the practical and mundane. With difficulty, Edward negotiates his way through a day saddled by the weight of his daggered destiny, lightening his load in a pair of sheer underwear.

Stretchable, supple, yet sturdy, and tough, Edward’ s men sheer underwear attains the same perfection as one of his pruned topiary perennial shrubs. That’ s why Edward never leaves home without his softer side set comfortably snug in a pair of sheer undies.

The ladies simply adore Edward’ s haircutting expertise, as well as his sense of style, and have taken a shine to his silver glossy hands. If only they got a gander at his gentle genitalia below his heavy-handed shears, they’ d also take a shine to the slick perfected form inside his sheer underwear especially when sheathed in a pair of sexy see-through briefs.

In one respect, Edward would like his underwear to be similar to his scissor hands – his underwear must always look sharp and be on the cutting edge of fashion. As his hedge creations take on many shapes and forms, so does Edward’ s mens sheer underwear, which comes in boxers, briefs, and mesh swing thongs, as well as more enticing styles to adore.

Soft, breathable, and freeing, sheer underwear offers Edward the flexibility to reach the top of a hedge to deftly create the flap of an elephant ear or bend low to recreate a large flat foot and five stubby toes.

Lightweight, nylon, micromesh, mens sheer underwear is machine washable unlike Edward’ s scissor hands, which require a delicate hand wash. Such is the irony that exists in the parallel world between one man’ s flesh and scissor hands.

Get Your Baws in These Bags - A Review

Bawbags is a fun, funky line of men's clothing and underwear.  The line has a sort of urban grunge, skater look.  It's where bold, loud prints meet tattooed skater models full of personality.  In fact, they work with pro skaters to represent them and model their gear.  The whole line just screams at you to give it some attention - and it's worthy of it.  What's a "bawbag" you might ask?  Well a "baw" is a slang Scottish term for "testicle".  So a "bawbag" would be a bag for your testicles, which is exactly what underwear is when you think about it.  And the name is very fitting since part of your purchase goes towards the worthy cause of testicular cancer research.  The line comes in boxerbriefs and boxers.  Each pair retails for £10 (about $16 USD).

For the purpose of today's review, I tried out the boxerbriefs in the blue leopard print.  Now before I start this review I want to give you a little background of where I stand on boxerbriefs and my history with them.  Usually I'm not a big fan of boxerbriefs and tend to go for trunks as they are more form fitting and flattering.  I usually find boxerbriefs to be too baggy in the crotch and too loose in the legs so that they just ride around in strange ways all day.  But that wasn't the case at all with these boxerbriefs!  These things fit like a glove in all the right ways.  Unlike most boxerbriefs, these things are form fitting through the crotch but still allow the waistband to be at your waist instead of pulled all the way up to your armpits (like some boxerbriefs make you do).  And the legs are just the right amount of tight so that they stay in place as they should and don't move around throughout the day.  They're just long enough through the leg so that you feel covered, but they're not too long that you can barely move.  These things fit snugly, but not too snug.  It's like the perfect, warm hug around your crotch and rear.  It keeps everything held in place but doesn't squeeze you to death.

These things are made of comfy cotton with 5% lyrcra for elasticity.  Unlike most boxerbriefs there are no back seams or sideseams making for perfect comfort across the rear.  The only seaming is for the front access panel.  Now I never use the fly on underwear, but the one on these is quite usable if you so choose.  The waistband is also perfectly suited to comfort.  These are just all around great undies to knock around in and do whatever.  They're comfy and will keep all your junk in place throughout the day.

Another reason I usually dislike boxerbriefs is because they all tend to be pretty basic and lacking in style, but these things SCREAM style!  While they may not be for everyone, I personally love them.  Most of Bawbags' styles are bold and in your face, so you have to be the right type of guy to want to wear these.  But if you're like me, you're gonna have a great time.  They have a knack for mixing bold colors that aren't normally put together for a fantastic effect.  I really can't get enough.  The bold waistband peeking above your pants just begs you to stop and see more.

These boxerbriefs from Bawbags are great quality.  The fabric prints are done in a unique way that isn't quite screen-printed, but doesn't show through on the other side.  The prints are implemented into the fabric in such a way that they don't inhibit the fabric from its proper movement, but they also don't wash out.  The quality of the stitching is good with no loose threads to be seen anywhere, even after repeated washings.  Even the waistband remains crisp and new-looking after almost a year of wear.  I've gotta say, I'm impressed.  And for 16 bucks these are definitely worth it.  Who knew I could like boxerbriefs so much?

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Bawbags boxerbriefs a total score of 9 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 10 (out of 10) - Well-fitting boxerbriefs.  Not too baggy through the crotch or leg.  Stays in place.
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10) - Super comfy cotton.  No back or sideseams getting in the way.
STYLE -- 9 (out of 10) - Screams style!  Not for the timid.
QUALITY -- 10 (out of 10) - Well made.  Holds up great all around even after lots of washings.
VALUE -- 9 (out of 10) - Well priced; benefits testicular cancer research.

Brieflines in Briefs

You may remember our occasional contributor brflines (brief lines) began posting his daily pair on Twitter (I now do the same here).  Recently he switched from Twitter to Flickr and posts a picture of him in his pair of the day.  I mentioned this in passing a while back, but recently I've noticed that his pictures are getting more fun and more daring.  There are picture of him in his office, conference rooms, and even by his car showing off his undies for the world to see.  So if you haven't checked out brflines' briefs in a while, be sure to do so.  You won't believe what you've been missing.

It's a Snug Fit - A Review

Baskit has long been an innovator on the men's underwear scene.  They've come a long way since their contour pouch boxer-briefs with built in condom pocket (their big claim to fame back in the day).  Today I want to tell you about one of their latest collections that is skin-tight and seamless - which is all the rage in Europe, or so I've been told.  It's called Snugfit Seamless and is very aptly named.

The Snugfit Seamless collection comes in briefs, fishnet briefs, trunks, and fishnet trunks all in black and white.  For the purpose of today's review, I tried the white trunk.  These trunks truly live up to the collection's name.  Like the name implies, they are seamless.  Instead of having seams all over which adds bulk to the garment, the whole thing is knitted as one piece and has a special pouch knit right into the garment that is designed to expand to your body shape.  In fact, the whole thing is designed to expand to your body.  The whole line only comes in two sizes: Small/Medium and Large/X-Large.  The fabric is ultra stretchy and therefore can accommodate a much broader range of sizes than your average pair.  Also, the waistband (which is often the limiting factor for the stretch factor of underwear) is knit in one piece with the rest of the garment so there is no difference in its stretchiness.  They are made out of a special fabric blend that is 90% Polyamide (a fancy term for nylon) and 10% Elastane, which helps it hold its shape.  These things really fit like a glove because they stretch out to conform to your body.  Because of the special fabric blend used, they fit snugly (as promised by the name) but they also don't stretch out; the elastane ensures they pop back into shape once you take them off.

As for the comfort, these things are great.  It's like having underwear that is custom fitted for you - they fit perfect and thus feel perfect every time.  You won't even know you're wearing them.  And because they are seamless this allows for a much thinner fabric and profile so there's no added bulk under your jeans.  They're literally like a second skin.  Even the waistband conforms smoothly against your body.

So now let's talk about style.  Something this comfy and this perfect must have a catch, right?  Well wrong.  These things surprisingly have style.  Often underwear that is this comfortable jeopardizes style for comfort.  Seamless oftentimes equals shapeless.  But in these trunks Baskit has managed to work in a good deal of style.  Now don't get me wrong, these are still what I would call basics.  They are very simple, no frills, everyday wear.  But Baskit gave them a little personality with the contrast blue waistband and legbands.  These are pure stylistic features as both the legbands and the waistband are just a continuation of the fabric of the rest of the trunk and not a separate elastic band like in traditional underwear.  The blue splash gives them a little flare and makes them something more than just a plain, white trunk.  The black pair has white accents, which personally I don't think have as much flair as the blue on the white pair.

As for the quality of these things.  Oftentimes I find underwear that is made out of super thin fabric like these don't stand the tests of time - they often get "pilly" from the washing machine and from abrasion in daily wear.  These are a little different.  I have worn mine a number of times and they are just starting to show a few signs of wear on the leg.  But compared to other underwear made of similar fabrics these hold up a lot better.  For the most part these look as good as new down to the crisp blue accents.  So are they worth it?  At $24 USD from Baskit, these trunks are a little on the high end for something that doesn't have a ton of fun details - they're not quite what I would call "fashion underwear".  But these are a great go-to pair when you don't know what to wear and want comfort but also want some style.  These are a good investment and will last you well.  They are very versatile and work well everywhere from the gym to the office; from the club to the bedroom.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Baskit Snugfit Seamless Trunk a total score of 8.5 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 10 (out of 10) - Snug, custom fit.  Conforms perfectly to your body.
COMFORT -- 10 (out of 10) - Seamless trunk allows for super light-weight fabric.  Like a second skin.
STYLE -- 8 (out of 10) - Basic with a little splash of color.
QUALITY -- 8 (out of 10) - Well made.  Delicate fabric holds up well to wear and tear.
VALUE -- 8 (out of 10) - Expensive for how basic they are.  But very versatile.  Can go anywhere.

Guy At Home in His Underwear

For the next 25 days, Mark is going to be the guy at home in his underwear.  Stanfield's, underwear manufacturer for over 150 years, is sponsoring him in support of testicular cancer awareness to sit around in his underwear all day long.  But that's not all, you can go to his site and watch him in his underwear and interact with him - all part of further education and awareness of testicular cancer.  There are four webcams positioned around Mark's house so you can see what he's up to throughout the day.  Also on the site there is a fun feature where you can submit what you consider to be the worst underwear picture and send it in to him.  Whoever has the worst underwear of the day (in Mark's opinion) will get a new pair from Stanfield's.

Stanfield's, in recognition of Mark's endeavor will give $25,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society in recognition of testicular cancer awareness.  But there's a catch.  That is that Mark must get 25,000 people to like him on Facebook (linked through his site).  1 like = $1.  But that shouldn't be too hard since Mark already has 10,000 likes in the first day of 25.  So go check out his site and help support the cause by liking it on Facebook.

2Eros Black Label Swimwear

Underwear and swimwear designer 2Eros is gearing up to launch their next big swimwear collection entitled Black Label. The black label is an exclusive collection of swimwear for the no-nonsense guy who knows what he wants. A simple, sleek and sophisticated collection. The swimwear is available in two fits: briefs and trunks, and two colors: red earth and midnight.  I've had a chance to get my hands on a pair of these, and they live up to the promises.  They are definitely what I would call sleek and sophisticated.  They are very simple, but not plain.  They are clearly designed by someone who understands the male physique.  They are form fitting and flattering with high-end detailing.  They are currently available for pre-order for $79.95 for the trunks and $69.95 for the briefs on the 2Eros website.  For a limited time, you can get 10% off your pre-order by using coupon code 'black10'.  Be aware, however, that these do run small and you should probably get a size up.  I normally wear a small, but with these the medium fit perfectly.

SPANX - now for Men

A big trend in the men's underwear world right now is shapewear.  We've talked about it on here before.  Men are becoming more body conscious and want to look their best - so if women can wear them, so can men.  Spanx has long been a leader in shapewear for women, but now they're extending their line for men as well.  They have a whole line of slimming t-shirts that are currently available at International Jock for purchase.  They are also planning on launching trunks and briefs in November, which are currently available for pre-order at Bare Necessities.  There isn't a whole lot of information available at this point, but MUB will be sure to keep you posted on any developments.  The trunks and briefs sell for $48 and $38 respectively and feature moderate compression to keep everything tight but at the same time offers contour support and lift to get the best look for your package.  These new Spanx also feature moisture wicking and Breatheasy technology to keep you comfortable no matter what life demands from you.  As of now Spanx appears to come only in black and white.  Stay tuned for more details.

Underwear Answers: Wear What You Want!

I feel that many people struggle with choosing what style of underwear to wear.  They want to wear what's comfortable for them, but they also are worried that they'll be judged in the lockerroom, by an intimate relation, or a spouse.  I especially get many questions from teenagers in this situation.  They want to wear something other than what they wear, but they're not sure how to ask their mom or what their friends will think.  My advice?  Forget them.  Wear what you want.  After all, you're the one wearing it.  You should be comfortable.  Who cares what they think?  Below is a question from a teen reader via Formspring and my advice to him.  If you have any underwear related questions, feel free to ask me them via email or Formspring

I'm a teen guy and I wear boxers and hate them. Boxer briefs aren't much different.  I really want to switch to briefs but I'm too embarrassed to ask my mum any advice.
I feel like this is a problem that many teen guys have. I know I did when I was your age. Underwear should be about wearing what's comfortable for you. If you aren't happy with what you have you shouldn't have to wear them. Next time you're at the store, just say, "hey mom, I'd like to get some new underwear." and then instead of going for the boxers grab some briefs. She should be fine with it. She's not the one who has to wear them so you should get to wear what you want, not what she wants. And if that's not going to work with your mom, just go to the store and buy them yourself. You're a teenager, you're old enough to make your own decisions and choices. Your mom isn't going to be buying your undies for the rest of your life you know. If you're worried about her finding them in the laundry, then now would be a great time to start learning how to wash clothes. It will be good practice for college. Good luck!
