Bjorn Borg Event

New York - Last night at the Peter Eliot store in Manhattan, New York an event was held to celebrate the launch of the new Bjorn Borg line. The party was a benefit party to raise funds for the Widow's and Children's Fund - an FDNY charity. Firefighters from the 2010 City of the Brave pin-up calendar served as models for the new line (the new calendar goes on sale in August).

Bjorn Borg was a Swedish tennis legend who has now turned to fashion design. So in fitting tennis style the models played table tennis at the event.

The event was a huge success. Especially when store owner Eliot Rabin dropped trou to show off his Bjorn Borg gear to all the guests.

Brand Profile: PIPE

PIPE is fairly new on the market. It is the inspiration of designer Palachio. Having grown up in a fashionable town in South America called Medellin, Palachio was very aware of what others were wearing. After moving to the United States he was disappointed by the lack of sexy, comfortable, and well made underwear like the ones he could easily find in Medellin. In fact he had to import his personal underwear from Medellin because he just couldn't find what he wanted in the states. After 10 years of this he decided it was time to take action and create his own line of underwear called PIPE. The idea was to create a colorful, sexy, and funky collection that would stand out from the crowd.

The PIPE collection is bold and unique. I honestly haven't ever seen anything quite like it. There are 10 different designs that use bold prints to bring across an idea. Each style is named things like Wings, Graffiti, The King, Golden City, and Dragon. Each style is a concept. On the site there are photos of each style that really help clarify the concept (shown Dragon, wings, and techno). My personal favorites are King, Wings, Dragon, and Techno. I also really enjoy how Palachio has decided to use metallic screen printing on some of the styles.

PIPE makes both trunks and briefs. Different styles have different silhouettes (in other words wings is a brief style only, you cannot get a trunk version). I really like this because it means that the print is tailored to the shape of the underwear. Each pair (briefs and trunks alike) retail for $24.50 each. You can purchase them at PIPE's official website. Also, be on the lookout for a review coming soon.

Celebrity Underwear Sighting: Joe Jonas

The Jonas Brothers are becoming increasingly popular and with popularity comes more photos. So why not some underwear photos? Here Joe Jonas' white brief lines are clearly visible through his white athletic shorts while playing baseball. And in case you were wondering, the Jobros are known to switch it up with their underwear between boxerbriefs and briefs.

Brand Profile: Bone Wear

Bone Wear is a fairly new brand that hails from South Africa. In fact, Bone Wear is the first and only international underwear label from that country. The product is locally designed by Wilco Stemmett and is also manufactured on site in South Africa.

Bone Wear underwear comes in many styles including: square boxers, athletic fit boxers, access briefs (with fly), classic briefs (without a fly), tight fit briefs, and tight fit boxers. Bone Wear incorporates bold graphic prints and fashionable cuts into their designed. And it's all topped off with a Bone Wear logo waistband. So with all the different combinations of prints and cuts there's sure to be something for everyone.

Bone Wear also makes shirts, swimwear, and sleepwear (the newest addition to their line-up) so check those out as well.

This year Bone Wear has had the honor of being the official supplier of swimwear and underwear to the 2009 Mr. South Africa Pageant.

Bone Wear is still currently working on their own online shop, but you can purchase their products at Dead Good Undies, Deal By Ethan, and Global Guys Gear. Their briefs retail between $18-$24 USD and their boxers retail for just under $30 USD at Deal By Ethan. Stay tuned for a review in the near future.

Guest Post: Collecting

Today I am pleased to welcome guest poster James from James In Brief. James is a big underwear collector and his site is a combination of personal musings and showing off his collection. Every post includes a photo of him in his pair of the day (that's him below) along with a little tid bit about what's currently going on in his life. He then goes on to share lots of eye candy with his readers. So without further ado, here's James' guest post about collecting. And be sure to look out for more from James in the future.

Many people collect many different things. Jay Leno, for instance, collects cars and since he can afford it, good for him. I knew a gal who collected pigs… Porcelain pigs, pig towels, pig everything. Me, I collect underwear.

It all started years back, when I bravely decided to venture out of the tightie-whitie norm, and purchase that style in different colors. For whatever reason, which could be a whole different article, I became obsessed with underwear. Different colors led to different styles and the next logical step was bikinis, which seemed to get smaller and tighter as my collection grew.

It probably goes without saying that thongs, g-strings and jockstraps were not far behind. The beauty of collecting underwear is that the collection is endless… There will always be new styles, new cuts, new designs and new fabrics.

I did not mention boxers because they are my least favorite, but naturally they are included in my collection of hundreds or different pairs of underwear. Singlets? A few, of course.

I figure there are far worse or far more expensive things to collect, and I get to enjoy my collection literally every day! I could go on, but right now I need to run to the mailbox… I am expecting seven new thongs any day now!

Review: Core-point Briefs

If you aren't aware of the fun brand that is Core-point, it is the inspiration of three French men living in Hong Kong. The line takes its influence from the bustling atmosphere of Hong Kong and has a streetwear feel. Core-point is known for its funky, graphic prints with in-your-face colors and patterns. The waistbands are bold and loud and have the signature dot pattern around the back. Core-point makes both trunks (they call them boxers) and briefs for men (they do a hipster brief for the females as well).

Today I'd like to review their men's brief. Specifically I tried out the Sealwid III brief for the purposes of this review. I want to start with the style because that's what first catches my attention. Like all their underwear, this brief is fun. This particular style is a little more demure than some of their other styles. But nevertheless it is still quite fun and out there. Those who've seen it say it reminds them of a zebra. I love the look of them and they're really fun to wear! Like most fashion briefs there is no fly, but the pouch is accentuated by two elastic bands on either side. The cut of these briefs is a little skimpy - not quite a full-rise - but still covers enough for the modest man to be comfortable wearing them. But honestly you've got to be pretty bold to wear these prints so if you're wearing these you probably aren't too concerned about modesty.
The fit of these is true to size (as noted on the size chart on their site - it is a little different than some manufacturers so make sure you consult it before buying). These briefs are snug and conform to the body but they are not too tight that you feel constricted; I feel like I can move in these. Very limited gaping appears around the leg bands when I move my legs in certain ways. But it is very limited and still allows for ample support throughout the day. What these briefs really have going for them is comfort. They are not too tight and they are not too loose. And the fabric is oh so soft. They are the perfect brief for everyday wear and they can handle whatever the day may throw at you. My favorite part is the thin waistbands that Core-point uses on all their briefs (and some of their trunks). The waistband is so comfortable that I barely even realize I am wearing underwear; but it is still there to make a statement. I do have to caution you that some of the trunks do have a thicker waistband (the ones with the logo in the middle as opposed to off-center) and these are a little less comfortable. I have, however, been informed that Core-point is in the process of switching over all their waistbands to the new, softer material. (Also, the older collection was made with a heavier material overall that is not as comfortable to wear. You may find some trunks made from this material if you are browsing through Core-point's sale section on their site.)

The quality of these briefs is above average. Everything is stitched very nicely and I haven't experienced any loose threads or pilling on the waistband as is the case with quite a lot of underwear out on the market. Even after numerous washes these briefs have held up quite well and look just as nice as the day I got them. They are, however, a little pricey at $31.25 a brief and $35 for a trunk. But I think the quality and craftsmanship makes these a good value nevertheless; these briefs will last you for much longer than your run-of-the-mill undies.
I want to end this review by letting you know that I choose to review the briefs (over the trunks) simply because I haven't reviewed a pair of briefs in a while. If briefs aren't your thing, Core-point makes very good trunks that would receive a similar rating.

Also, I would like to apologize for the fact that most of the photos attached to this review are of the trunks. I had trouble finding photos of the briefs, but I plan on replacing them with photos of briefs should I find some more.

MY RATING:
Overall, I give the Core-point briefs a total score of 8.5 based on the following criteria:
FIT -- 8 (out of 10)
COMFORT -- 9 (out of 10)
STYLE -- 10 (out of 10)
QUALITY -- 10 (out of 10)
VALUE -- 7.5 (out of 10)

New Brand: Tribe Underwear

Tribe Underwear is an Australian brand that has been on the market for about a year now (they launched in July 2008). It is completely made and manufactured in Australia. It is available in a few stores in Australia but you'll have the best luck getting it online at their site. The line has been in development for three years now and is the brain-child of Bettina Andretic and Tony Hall. They were inspired in a most interesting way: they read an article where fashion icon David Beckham stated that he liked to wear Victoria's underwear around the house because the fabric felt really nice. So this sparked the idea to make men's underwear out of similar fabric.

The first thing I've got to say about this brand is that I think it's super hot! You may think that making men's underwear out of this type of fabric might have a very feminine result. But that is not the case at all. This underwear is very masculine and very unique and everyone who sees it will want to know where you got it and where they can get some. It's just that hot. The underwear comes in six styles: slim side briefs, standard briefs, trunk briefs, boyleg briefs, short boxers, and long boxers. But the mystique lies in the fabric not the cuts. Tribe underwear has some of the most unique fabric I've seen in the men's underwear world. They have everything from sexy, almost sheer fabrics like the black devore to more modest fabrics for the less daring like their palm fabric. My personal favorite is what they call burn out; it is basically orange ,cut velvet with sheer fabric where the velvet has been cut to form a floral pattern. It's super sexy while still keeping you covered.

So if you've been wanting some underwear to bring out that softer, sexier side in you this is the perfect thing. All I can say is I can't wait to try them out. And as always I'll let you know what I think - so be on the lookout for a review.

New Quake Collection from Timoteo

Timoteo brand is the brainchild of designer Timoteo Ocampo. Ocampo is based out of LA and studied at California State University. He has worked closely with Kimora Lee Simmons to make her famed Baby Phat line and now he's bringing his talents to the men's fashion world with his brand Timoteo. Timoteo has been around since 2001 and makes more than just underwear (but since underwear is the focus of this blog that is what I will mainly discuss). Timoteo also produces jeans, dress shirts, and fashion tees as well as miscellaneous accessories. There are two main collections of Timoteo underwear for men. There's the classic collection which comes in briefs, low-rise briefs, boxer briefs, and jock straps. The classic collection features bold waistbands with the Timoteo logo written in script. And then there's Timoteo's more recent collection Quake. The Quake collection is much more bold with lots of contrasting colors and two-toned text on the waistband. It is a fun and fresh collection and brings a modern twist to your under gear.

These stunning images were taken by photographer Allen Zaki and feature the latest Quake collection from Timoteo. Also, Timoteo has started an online magazine. So be sure to check that out as well. Timoteo underwear is competitively priced at between $16 - $30 USD a pair (depending on style and collection) and can be purchased at Timoteo's website and other online retailers like Jock Boy Locker.

New Brand: Smuggling Duds

Smuggling Duds is a new brand to hit the men's underwear scene. Smuggling Duds is based in the UK and is the latest urban brand to hit the markets.

Smuggling Duds is starting out with their stash pants (boxer shorts) and for women they also have a stash thong. Smuggling Duds pants are designed with an aesthetically pleasing condom pocket so you can use them to carry (aka smuggle) your condom or any other item in a fun, hip way. Although this blog generally centers around men's underwear, I am intrigued by the addition of the condom pocket into the women's thong. I've seen pockets in underwear before, but never in a thong - perhaps they will extend this into a men's version soon.

Smuggling Duds currently offers boxer shorts (stash pants) in six fun colors. I am hoping that they will expand their fun aesthetic into boxerbriefs and briefs sometime soon. They are selling their stash pants for the equivalent of about $20 USD. And if it's a bonus for you they also accept Paypal payments. So go ahead and get your Smuggling Duds. And stay tuned to this site for updates on Smuggling Duds and a product review.

Fun video premiere from baskit. The premise behind the video is that there are so many choices of underwear, so why not try them all? Just switch them (watch the video and you'll understand). This is also a great video for seeing all the fun new collections from baskit. They have certainly come a long way since I first posted about the company in 2005 when their big claim to fame was a hidden condom pouch inside every pair.

New International Jock Model Harry Tucker

International Jock has had the good fortune to have just completed a photo shoot with 20-year old British model Harry Tucker. Photographer (and International Jock founder) John Sievers had this to say about working with Harry:

This is the first photo shoot that Harry’s done since arriving in the USA a little over two weeks ago and it was also his first mens underwear shoot. He was, understandably, a little nervous at first but he did a wonderful job and I’m very pleased with the results. Harry has great looks, an engaging and lively personality and a lovely English accent. He was a very good sport about everything I asked him to do, even though his agent thought he might be reluctant to shoot the bedroom scenes. The only thing he declined to wear was a jockstrap by itself out in the garden.

We did the shoot at a private garden cottage up in the Hollywood Hills and shot some Calvin Klein, DKNY and Speedo swimwear. The shots I took of Harry in the shower were particularly fun to do! In the nine years I've been working with models here at International Jock, he's undoubtedly one of the best and I’m sure he has a big career ahead of him.
Stay tuned to MUB for more hot photos of the gorgeous up-and-coming model Harry Tucker.

World's First Seamless Pouch

International Jock is pleased to announce the immediate availability of a revolutionary new line of underwear from Ergowear.

Mens underwear styles with contoured pouches have always offered men the room and comfort they desire. Previously, creating these pouches has always required an often uncomfortable and distracting seam down the center of the support pouch to achieve the rounded shape. Now, for the first time ever, Ergowear has created a line of form-fitting underwear with a 3-dimensional rounded pouch that offers the desired concave pouch contour without a vertical seam in the center: Ergowear PLUS

Made from a blend of 90% cotton and 10% Lycra, the PLUS line offers the softness of cotton along with the support and shape retention of Lycra. The proprietary manufacturing process used to create Ergowear’s exclusive seamless pouch design stretches the fabric into a rounded shape while also largely neutralizing the Lycra in the pouch area so that the genitals are not compressed.

International Jock offers the new PLUS line in brief, bikini, thong and boxer brief styles in both black and white.

New line Piado coming soon to His Trunks

Today I'd like to introduce you to a new brand called Piado, available at His Trunks. Piado is an independent fashion brand that currently focuses on the basics: underwear. Piado's aim is to turn the underwear from a simple necessity into a fashion item. Piado Style is defined by distinct fabrics, modern & sophisticated design and eco-friendly products.

They are made of luxuriously soft bamboo with a low waist modern design - 94% Bamboo + 6% Lycra. They come in bright, distinctive colors and are a cross between a brief and a trunk cut (sort of a square-cut brief). They are very stylish, but not over-styled with minimalistic detailing.

You can pre-order your Piado from our new advertiser His Trunks. So I'd like to take this chance to welcome our new advertiser and encourage you to visit their site and check out all they have to offer. They currently stock Stonemen, 2eros, and a couple brands that I haven't seen elsewhere like Forbidden and Piado. So it's definitely worth checking out.
