Underwear over the ages (well ok over the decades)

The trends in male underwear have changed over the years. For quite some time every man and boy wore the same kind of underwear as the next. But now there are a lot more options. Some might even say that today's youth have more options than their fathers did. Some might argue that underwear goes in phases. The grandpa age probably wore boxers when he was young. The middle aged men now probably wore briefs when they were young. But today's teenagers have many more options. A lot more is accepted and tolerated in underwear. Or so some might argue.

But I want to explain what this blog is about. Every post will have some topic and then will have a poll where you answer by commenting on the post to the poll. The poll will relate to the topic. If you have any other comments feel free to post them as well. If you have any tips on what I should blog about then feel free to send them to me.

Today's Poll:
What kind of underwear do you think most teenagers today wear?

I think mostly teen guys wear bozer briefs or boxers. When I was in high school we all pretty much wore white briefs now with so much more variety I'm glad to have jockey low rise bikini briefs. Cheers to the kids who wear the new thong style. In my day we all wore jocks and thought nothing of it. Now you can wear a thong and they look hot too. Lets hear from you teen thongers out there.

Well I am a teenager and I wear briefs. But most teens will have boxers or boxer briefs. I am sad to say male teens don't wear thongs but actually sports coaches have thongs and straps on.

I think the prevailing style for teenage boys is boxers. My feeling is that this has more to do with fashion trends and peer pressure and less to do with comfort. Form over function, if you will. When I was entering my teens I felt pressure from my peers to wear boxers and was even ridiculed for my underwear choices. Some boys in the neighborhood discovered that I wore underoos (the telltale Superman undershirt) and I was made fun of for months. At the time, I thought things would be easier for me if my mom would just buy me boxers even though I much preferred my briefs (including underoos).

I applaud the boys and young men today who have the courage and confidence to wear whatever they want and whatever they look good in.

I too wear thongs, and Ive got a friend who does too, and he actually is proud of it and was showing pictures of his collection to his friends. I suppose Im afraid to tell anyone is because my girlfriend like to see me in female thongs (she thinks they look better and I agree) and thats mostly what I wear.

I'm 20 now, and my nan used to buy me briefs to wear. I've always known I was gay, and in the changing rooms in the gym, i noticed the hot guys wore boxers, so I adopted that.

Now I just wear anything I damn well want, even to work - it's mostly either a HUNG Jock or 2(x)ist thongs.

Hi!

In Denmark most teenagers wear (Björn Borg) boxer briefs, which they show with pride. You can often see they wear their jeans without a belt, so it hangs too low on their hips. I love very low cut jeans, and that counts underwear too, but I don't like the boxer briefs up to over their belly buttons, showing them almost all the way. And then they think that is cool...! In my opinion it looks as if they have forgotten something after they have used to bathroom. I prefer thongs myself. But in Denmark I think thongs are considered to have something to do with sex and can hardly be bought, so I just buy them from The States. In Holland you can buy thongs in almost every shop. That was cool.

Denmark is a great country, but if we speak of underwear, they are far too much behind.

Hi!

I am a teenage boy in highschool and i am proud to say that i wear thongs, string bikinis, and bikini underwear. Most of the boys at my school either wear string bikini or thong underwear. We all think that they give good support. At the beginning of ma freshman year everyone wore boxers. But me and a group of ma friends thought we would act stupid and wear the thongs and string bikinis, well we got hooked on them and when we would dress out for P.E. everyone wanted to know where we got them and now almost every boy in sports at my school wears them. But also we all have bodies that are in great shape. So i suggest that if you have a great or even an average body to try the thongs and string bikini underwear. If you are in very bad shape keep to boxers.

Most I believe wear Boxers. The bagginess covers any teenage erections.

From the midwest, most guys wore briefs until about middle school when Boxers took over. Jockstraps were popular for sports, much more so than compression shorts. As we got into High School a majority of guys wore boxer briefs. Boxers were second, and only a few guys still chose briefs.

Growing up in Iowa I must say that jockey shorts were the trend for most of my high school buddies (early '80s), or so I saw in the locker room. Didn't really matter since we all had to wear jocks for gym, but even then I thought there was nothing more manly than briefs.

Dad wears white briefs, brother wears white briefs, and as far as I know (again gym, but adult, with monthly dues) so do plenty of other grown men, including my racquett-ball partner. We even got into a discussion of underpants, wherein he admitted, blushing, that he liked a pair of red-and-blue American-flag striped bikini briefs his wife had bought for him.

Ultimately, real men wear what they wear, and are not flustered by frank talk of unmentionables. Jockeys, boxers, 'nana hammocks, just be willing to show 'em off to God, lockers and ambulances: if a man can manage that with his shorts he can do anything.
